Why must the entire world be a place where everything is either black or white? Right or wrong? Just on unjust? (you get the picture, I hope)

I find myself wondering a lot of things lately. I look around at what so many consider to be normal in what society calls my "lifestyle." Overshadowed by confusion, rejection, drugs, substance abuse (maybe that was redundent), depression, suicide, etc. Is this truly what the lifestyle is, or is it what the mainstream media portrays it to be so we don't know any better? From the time most are born, they are taught that being gay is a filthy lifestyle that can't be normal. So, how can I child that is gay know any different that to accept what the world sees of it and live the life?

You never see these fundamentalist right-wing supporters showing gay people that are your everyday Joes. The ones that don't get caught up in the so-called "lifestyle." The ones that hold down jobs, have high self esteems, and are successful. No, all you see the media showing is the "filthy" side of the lifestyle. Must I remind people that there is a bad group of straight people too. There is just no term to label them like there is us.

A religious group from Tupelo recently got a group of supporters together and got "The Book of Daniel" banned from our local NBC stations. I must give them this...they don't want their perfect image of happy God-fearing people destroyed. It is good PR. Kudos on that one. But, I don't see it as a group of people trying to promote good values to people. I see it as a group of people trying to maintain power. Is it really a moral thing? Or are they scared that this show might, in some way, break the stereotype that they have worked so hard to maintain over the years?

I'm tired of the bullshit. I'm tired of the drama. However, I am not tired of fighting. Life was not meant to be easy. If it was meant to be easy, we would be dead. It's a struggle. It's a journey....one well worth taking.

Life is not a written book. It is your story. And don't let anyone's opinion tell you otherwise. The success of the world is built on those that challenged norms, and succeeded. My only hope is that as a society, we have not become so weak that we become stagnant.

And now, a poem:

I can't
Love who
And what
You want
Me to.
Why can't
I choose
Who I
Adore
All by
Myself?

I was pleased several people write in to the Daily Jouranl Letter to the Editor pissed off about WTVA's censorship.

The letters were well written and quite funny.  I really couldn't say it better myself.

One guy said even though he was 60 years old, he was thankful that the American Family Association was around to decide for him what he could and couldnt watch.  His letter was my favorite.
