| | The last time I saw fireworks... we were walking hand in hand near the rides at the State Fair.
"Is it 10 yet? Where's my fireworks?" I demanded.
The fireworks started. And like clockwork he pulled me to his chest and wrapped his arms around me. It was always effortlessly easy for him to hold me entirely.
"I like that one." I pointed from underneath his arms. "I like that one," he pointed "and mine is bigger and better."
The fireworks display was lame in comparison to the ones I was used to on New Years or July 4th. And we must have looked awkward, frozen together in the middle of the fairgrounds, more into the fireworks than everyone around us who was too busy on the rides or games. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it, this made up romantic moment between us. Plus, we had made the fireworks fun by turning it into a game. Everything was a game with us.
"Ooooooh! Did you see that one? It was a smiley face. Cool. I win!" "What smiley face? No it wasn't." He teased me. "No! It was a smiley face! How could you miss it?" I argued back. "No, babe I didn't miss it. I saw it. I was a sparse shot with no shape." He argued. "What? No! You're wrong! It was a smiley face. It had a yellow circle with blue eyes and a red mouth." I pushed away. "Babe, I'm color blind remember?" He pulled me back "Oh yea... so you didn't see it the way I did. So is ANY of this interesting to you? Have you just been seeing gray blobs this whole time? We don't have to watch it. We can go. I feel bad." I hugged his arms tight. "No it's fine. You wanted to see fireworks all night. We can watch it. I don't mind. And I AM enjoying this." "Sorry." I kissed him and smiled. "But hey, can you take me again on New Years and July 4th? I love fireworks!" "Of course, anything you want." |
