| | Does anyone watch Split Ends? It's like Wifeswap but with hairstylists and salons. Anyone catch the episode with Chris Do? He is such a cutie! :)
I love makeover reality shows as much as the next person... okay, maybe I don't. Maybe I'm obsessed with them. You see, I don't just watch it these shows. I study them and try to pick up as many little tips and lessons as possible.
With that said, I don't watch makeover shows too often. I love learning but hell if I'll sit around for longer than 15 minutes to listen to their life story. I lack patience. I just like watching their ugly beginning and the last 5 minutes when they do their hair and makeup and reveal! Yay!
My favorite show is Extreme Makeover because the difference is soooo great. But at the same time, I think it's TOO much of a change. People go on that show and get like 10 different surgeries, some necessary, some not. I swear 9 out of the 10 people who get lipo suction could have really gotten the same result with some hard dedicated exercise and diet. But maybe I'm just saying that because I get queasy watching the blood and gore of a surgery.
My mom told me to be a plastic surgeon.. eh... I don't think so. I wouldn't mind being a skin specialist esthetician or nurse though. And do things like botox (they only take a minute!) and skin peels and laser hair removals. That would be pretty neat.
Anyhow, the people on these shows are EXTREME and willing. Most people in your everyday life don't want a make over even if they look a million times better (I exxagerate). A lot of people are too comfortable in their skin to be out there and sexy and attention grabbing. Trust me, I know. I'm a makeup artist. You don't know how many people I get who think they are gorgeous after I make them over but in the last 5 minutes before they get out the door start begging me to wipe it off because they're scared people will think they don't look like themselves. No duh! You look better! But they're not comfortable with that. They rather be their invisible little self. *Shrugg* to each their own I guess.
I don't know if other people experience this too... After a break up you start "seeing" your significant other everywhere. Everything reminds you of them and people even start to look like them. Like one guy will have the same hair or another guy will wear the same shirt or something.
Here's my solution. Tell yourself: That asshole ain't nothing special. There's a million of him floating around :)
Another cool tip of the day: If you accidentally burn something when you cook it (like chicken wings)... flip the burnt side down on the plate and pile it up. No one will notice :) That and stop re-installing the damn smoke detector if you know it's going to go off everyday!
Shameless advertising: Add my makeup myspace page. You can check out more of my work there. I recently made it so I'll be adding LOTS more pictures in the near future. www.myspace.com/vanitypham At least until my official website is up :( |
