may 31, 2007 these past three days have been THE longest of my life. i went to my aunt's house on monday to housesit until thursday morning (today). i thought it was going to be an awesome/easy way to just sit on my butt, watch tv and make an easy 100 bucks. wrongo monday night, my first night there, i woke up at 1:30 in the morning hearing an ear piercing alarm go off. i thought it was the smoke alarm so i got a chair and went up to try to turn it off. it turns out that it wasn't the smoke alarm and when i pressed a button on that, it started going off along with the other alarm that was going off. so i try to turn that off and once i finally do, i realize that the alarm that was going off in the first place was a detector for carbon monoxide... so i call my grandmother at 2 oclock in the morning, who lives an hour away from this house, and she comes over. in the mean time, the alarm has gone off AGAIN... the fire department comes over to test the air in the house and they say that nothing is wrong, even though the numbers on the detector still keep rising, indicating that there is carbon monoxide present. so my grandmother didn't want me to stay there because the numbers kept on rising, even though the fire department said that there wasn't any carbon monoxide in the house, so she packs up the dogs in her car and takes us all over to her house. we didn't get there until 5:30 am. on tuesday, i have to watch them every second to make sure that they don't chew anything else up in her house while she's at work. kind of stressful. wednesday morning, we left her house at 6 am to go back to my aunt's house so that the gas guy could come over and really check out the air, make sure there wasn't a leak and so on. since there wasn't anything wrong, the dogs and i just stayed at my aunt's house. this morning, i left my aunt's house at 6 am so that my grandmother could come pick me up and drive me back to my house, because if we didn't do that, i would have been stuck there all day. i'm tired and glad to be home, haha. |
