| I went into t-mobile today wanting to upgrade my plan to the 1000 minutes free nights and weekend plan, but apparently that plan was only a promotion for the month of July and I was too late. I talked to the manager and apparently he couldn't do anything. He said it ended on July 31st and that even if I called in they couldn't do it because it wasn't even showing up in the system. I listened to his spiel and just agreed and extended my plan and got my free phone. However, right after I left there I called t-mobile headquarters because I wanted to do my own research instead. And to make a long conversation short I basically was able to get the plan I wanted, a better phone and for the same price of the first phone. I went back into the store 30 minutes later (I was in the parking lot making this call) and told him that I got the plan he supposedly said I couldn't and that he needs to upgrade my phone once again. Ya, that's right buddy, I was able to get the "expired" plan. He looked dumbfounded. It was great.
Moral of story: you just need to know who and how to talk to people to get your way. PR power at work. | | |
| In my strategic writing class this morning we went on a detour about the main character or more like the old main character, Steve, from Blues Clues. I'm sure you've heard the rumors that he died and his brother Joe took over the show instead, which was what I thought happened, but on contrary. He actually didn't die, but left the show before he would be type casted as the goody tooshoe. Instead he shaved his head, started a band and as any emo kid, will soon start cutting himself. Oh, the cycles of society.

| If your friends and family get fat, chances are you will too, researchers report in a startling new study that suggests obesity is "socially contagious" and can spread easily from person to person.
The large, federally funded study found that to be true even if your loved ones lived far away. Social ties seemed to play a surprisingly strong role, even more than genes are known to do.
"We were stunned to find that friends who are hundreds of miles away have just as much impact on a person's weight status as friends who are right next door," said co-author James Fowler of the University of California, San Diego.
The study found a person's chances of becoming obese went up 57 percent if a friend did, 40 percent if a sibling did and 37 percent if a spouse did. In the closest friendships, the risk almost tripled.

| I was in the garage having a nice son/dad talk with my father as I was dying his hair black and he asked me if I was working out because he saw how awesomely gigantic my biceps have become. He then persisted to challenge me to an arm wrestling competition - I assume he wants to exert his dominance, since he is the father figure. I flex and taunt that the old man has essentially become too old for the likes of his thriving young colt of a son in his prime and that he is no match for me. We line up and both hold our positions, no problem, we stare each other down - it's just a friendly competition right? I make the executive decision to go in for the move and end this once and for all so I can go straight into my *I beat you* dance. Nothing happens. He laughs and tells me to stop joking around, I laugh it off - of course I'm joking. *ha...ha....* I go in for the move again. Nothing happens....and this is when he notices that I wasn't joking and decides to end my misery. With one swift swoop he pounds the back of my hand into the table - I lost!!!! AAHhhhh, how could this happen?!? He has a head full of gray and I was dying it!!! No, no, no, no....my hand was tired from playing video games, it wasn't fair. I wasn't ready, but in any case I blame the weather for my distraction and refuse for a rematch and run back into my room to weep and wallow. A sad day indeed. | | |
