團長分享：【拾海星的老人】 作者：Ivy Furman 
黃昏時，有一位青年人在一個無人的海灘上漫步。忽然從遠處看見有一個老人在沙灘上拾起一些擱淺了的海星，然後拋回海裡去，並且重複不停地把它們拾起，拋回海裡去。 於是他好奇地走前，向老人問說：「朋友，我不明白你在做甚麼，為何浪費這些時間啦?!」老人解釋說：「我在把這些海星拋回海裡。你看，現在正是潮退，海灘上這些海星全是給潮水沖到岸上來的，到明天天亮這些海星便會晒死了！」青年人說：「我明白。不過這海灘有成千上萬，數不盡的海星；這海岸有過百個這樣的海灘，你可有能力把它們全部送回大海呢？你可知道你所做的根本對事情沒有分別！」 那老人看著手中的一隻小海星，又把它安全地拋回海裡。跟著說：「至少，對這海星來說就大有分別了！」 團長後語： 看見別人的需要，再看見自己力量的微少，我們可以有兩個選擇：1) 袖手旁觀；2) 伸出援手。不要輕看您好像微不足道的付出，團結就是力量，當知道傾盆大雨的源頭，就是那輕如空氣的浮雲！ There was young man walking down a deserted beach just before dawn. In the distance he saw a frail old man; he saw him picking up stranded starfish and throwing them back into the sea. the young man gazed in wonder as the old man again and again threw the small starfish from the sand into the water. He asked, "Old man, why do you spend so much energy doing what seems to be a waste of time?" The old man explained that the stranded starfish would die if left in the morning sun. "but there must be thousands of beaches and millions of starfish!" exclaimed the young man. "How can you make any difference!" the old man looked down at the small starfish in his hand and as he threw it into the safety of the sea, he said, "I made a difference to this one." - Ivy Furman |
