| It has been crazy out here in southern california past couple days. There have been fires everywhere, spreading to wider areas. It is quite scary watching the news, looking out the window and seeing the sky covered with smoke.
Last thursday, i believe, was the first day i saw this whole thing started. i guess it started on wednesday night, but on thursday morning when i went out to walk the kids before the work, the sky was covered by what it seemed like purplish white thick clouds. and surprisingly, the sun was like a ball of fire, burning red! of course, i freaked out and wondered what the heck was going on... later, i found out that it was because of the massive fire that was going on... and as the days pass, there have been two more fires developed, and the fires spreaded massively!

they said that this is the most devistating fire in southern california ever in a decade. so far, 13 people died and over 1100 homes were burnt and destroyed, and over 400,000 acres of earth were effected by fire. the footages they showed on the news are really... devistating. the houses are burnt to the ground, leaving nothing but ashes. Simi Valley, east of San Bernandino, and San Diego county areas are the ones that are being effected. and the place where I live, Burbank? it's kinda in the middle of Simi valley and San Bernandino, closer side of Simi Valley, but thankfully, our neighbor areas are safe so far. On the other hand, our studio is closer to where the fire is on Simi Valley. at this very moment, the sky outside of our studio is purplish redish thick white... on the way to work from my apartment, i could see the hill(valley) on the fire... i'd never seen anything like that. the left corner of the hill was smoking up and covered by thick smoke! the giant hill looked almost like a peice of cigarrett burning down little by little... all the birds were flying against the fire smoke and cops, firetrucks, news helicopters were flying or driving into the thick smoke. can you believe it? how crazy.... yikes.
my boss said from his house, he could see the fire. if the fire spreads over the hill, his house will be in danger, too. the producer of our new show, his car that was parked by his studio was covered in ashes. when you look at the footages of vast land in fire, it almost looks like the volcano has errupted or something. :( no wonder why it's so hot at night. since california has a desert weather, although it's burning hot during the day, it should get cooled down at night, but past couple days, even though the fire is quite far from my apartment, it just heated up the whole surrounding area....
please pray for those who lost homes, families, works, etc. ... and hope. This is the time when the prayers are needed the most and God's comfort is needed the most. i can't imagine losing everything in the flame of fire, not being able to do anything but watching your house disappearing into the ashes. Hope that the wind will die down which will help controlling the fire and people will be able to evacuate safely. ...i am just reminded again how helpless us human powers are against nature... against God. i really really hope that nobody that i know was effected by this fire... hope that God will give the victims new hope in Him and strong faith in Him in this time of difficulties........
| hallo hallo, everybody~
oh dang... it's been quite a while since the last time i updated... whew~ haha.. i'm abandoning Xanga and leaving to other sites... kkkk :p since i came to Cali, i've found and got closed to my korean side a lot. (they have korean tv channels here!!!!!!! and soooo much great korean food restaurants and cheap stores and everything!) and... that kinds gets me wanting to go back to my country quite often from time to time. hehe.. depends on how works go and the issue of working visa go next year, i might go back to korea for good... hehe, still thinking tho. still thinking...
oh, if you're korean(or can read korean), come visit my new website at www.cyworld.com/yunitoon. it's a great great great website to get in touch with your friends and family and let them know how your lives are. i would say it's better than xanga. (sorry, those of you xanga fans..) but it's true. you can decorate your room with little version of you(character) and can have a pet and all sorts of things... update pictures, draw pictures, put lists and lists of songs, write diaries, etc. cyworld rocks! i've been updating this site everyday since i can talk to my family and friends both back home and in the states(those are korean) through the site. so, if you can read, come visit. :P
On the other hand.... my life has been pretty good... except the fact the popcorn and nacho destroys everything in the house... they so far chewed up the carpet, brand new sofa, vertical blinds, bed frame, mattress pad........ yeah, endless. and it sure drives me crazy, but- i can't really blame them since i'm the one who leaves them home for 8~9hours a day, all day... they must get really bored and angry... but i can't bring them to day care, because they're spayed and neutured. oh well, i just gotta suck it up and find the better way to confine them. aiya~ despite that, they keep me company and help me escape from tiredness and loneliness.
i didn't think i will ever say this... but- it is definitely better when you are in school. when you are in school, you just wanna get out and don't have to worry about homeworks and exams and such. but LISTEN! it is better when you are in school, trust me. working in the office, in front of the computer for 8 hours a day, five days a week... isn't as easy as i thought it would be. i think my eyesites are getting worse every day... my shoulder and back aches more and more... i come home 7:30 or 8 at night, so after you give dogs a walk, eat dinner, you pass out... don't have much time to do ANYTHING. whether it's just hanging out with your friends, or going out for fun, or doing some art work of your own, or even watching your favorite tv show late night... oh and of course, now that you're on your own and earning money, everything is your responsibilities and coming out of your pocket... yikes.
oh sorry, there sure are great things about being out of school, tho. you have your own career now!!!!! oh yeah~. now i can go anywhere and say i'm an ANIMATOR! and that's cool~. of course, meeting great great beteran artists and animators and beyond your imagination! you get to see their original work, how they work, and most of all, you get to work WITH THEM! amazing, indeed... | wow... 23... sounds so... weird.
i just turned 23 yesterday! can you believe it? oh my gosh... it was a busy day.. oh, for those of you who haven't heard from me, i started working at a small animation company in southern california called KMC Films, this tuesday. hehe... it's been great. i've been meeting a lot of talented artists here. although what i do at this point is very little and still in the learning process, it's just awsome to be surrounded by great artists. coming to work and working all day long from 10am to 7pm isn't easy, tho. as if i did some major work out, my body aches and i get soooooo tired by the time i get home. no time to do anything, aiya~! but i guess this is a happy complain... (well, i shouldn't complain at all, i know) ...hmm.. what else. my new apartment is NICE~ and big! it's 770 square feet, one bedroom apartment with fireplace, balcony/patio, swimming pool with zaccuzi, fitness room. i haven't got much furnitures, so it's like a huge playground...(esp. to popcorn and nacho.. they race each other all the time.. hehe) and our apartment complex is surrounded by Disney, NBC, Warner Brothers studios. (there is actually a WB mansion right across... crazy, huh) well, i'm dreaming that one day, i will work at WB... one day.... puhahahahaha ... come, come! my house is open and welcome to everybody who wishes to visit and stay. aiite? ;) well, kids(popcorn & nacho) are doing great. they love it although they have to stay home all day by themselves... but because the weather is nice and there are grass yards and big parks everywhere, they love going for walk four times a day and run around in the big, carpeted house. they've made a lotta friends already, too. and because of them, i got to meet many people in the neighborhood. it's awsome! (did i mention...? i love you, kids!)
like always, my birthday was... pretty uneventful. ...haha... -_-;; it's nothing new.. since i came to the States, especially since i've been in college, i don't think i'd ever celebrated my birthday.. it's bad time, you know. beg. of the school, a lot of ppl are not back and all... and this year, i'm here all by myself.. again.. hehe. this year, i didn't even get to blow candles.. (i was too busy to buy a cake for myself ;p) oh well. i haven't made that many friends here, yet.. it is hard. i leave early in the morning and get back late home, and plus, everyone at work is much much older than me. (my parent's age) well, once i choose the right church and start going there, i guess i will make more friends.. who knows? i will have a birthday party with my family next year...... :p but, there were few friends who called me up to congratulate my b-day. (thanx so much you guys- junarm, go, clara, bohyun, sungman...!) got me all teary... hahahahaha and sungman treated me out for sushi which was awsome. thanx oppa~! oh, and of course, my kids were there for me and licked my face, giving me kisses, ... kept me busy.
...getting old is a weird feeling. kinda exciting, worried, scary, and.. nostalgic. i don't know how days and years fly pass by so fast. i'm just hoping that next year, i will be able to spend my birthday with my families back in korea... my family is going through a little bit of difficult time(esp. my aunt's family..), and- it kinda saddens me to know that more and more of my family are leaving... or disappearing... or separating... without me being noticed. this is the time when i hate and regret the most to be so far away in the States. i'm always one beat late for everything for/about the family. it kinda... sucks. i wish all the nations are connected somehow. all cluttered close to each other, so no matter what country you live, you have no problem seeing your beloved people. ... hehehehe... i'm being too sentimental. soweeeeee~~~. i've been sick with stomach virus thing lately, and not having my friends and family here with me on my birthday got me into it. keke..
BUT! God is great and awsome. He still gives me strength and reasons to stay optimistic and happy in any circumstances. Because of His grace and protection, i can be here right now, without having to worry about being separated from my kids or getting jobs or being forced to leave the country... i try my best to look at what i have and be grateful, although it gets difficult at times. i just hope that He will continously show me His will and His endless love so that i will be able to follow Him with complete trust. you can pray for me for that, instead of saying belated happy b-day!! kyakyakyakyakya.... well, i hope everybody is doing good, whether it's looking for jobs or starting a new school year. ... and... of course, i miss you soooooooooo sooooooooo much!!!! muah muah! God bless you all.... May God show you His faithfulness and love for us all in a way He showed them to me.... you know, you are always in my prayer~!!

Koreans won't come bearing gifts, warns Mendieta
ULSAN (South Korea), June 21: Spanish midfielder Gaizka Mendieta warned his side yesterday that World Cup quarter-final opponents South Korea were tough rivals and "they won't come bearing gifts." "We know it's an important match for them. They won't come bearing any gifts and we'll have to concentrate from the first whistle," said the Lazio star, who is reportedly on his way back to Spain with Barcelona.
"If you had told us we'd be playing South Korea in the quarters I'd not have believed it but after the first couple of matches we saw how the way they play and their physique meant they could well wind up in the last eight," said Mendieta.
"Maybe Korea don't have the same prestige historically ? but prestige counts for nothing once you get out on the pitch.
"If you look at the names and the record books then we are favourites ? but there are always surprises at a World Cup.
"All the teams are at a similar level. Argentina aand France may have been knocked out in the opening round but that doesn't necessarily mean their level has dropped," Mendieta insists.
The 28-year-old is well-acquainted with the Koreans' Dutch coach Guus Hiddink, having played under him at Valencia.
"He was there when I arrived at Valencia. I left and came back and he was still there," said Mendieta, recalling Hiddink's spell with the Spaniards between 1991 and 1993 before a later period in charge at Real Madrid.
"He has shown here he knows how to make a side play. And it is a plus point for Korea that they have a coach who knows Spain well." ? AFP
