I love wacky Japanese Game shows, seriously what kind of people come up with ideas this crazy and kooky. Probably one of my favorite shows in recently years has been about this guy who is signed up for a game show without knowing anything about the rules or how the show works. They get a hold of this guy and strip off all his clothes, then lock him in an empty apartment. The rules of the game are that he has a pen and a stack of envelopes, he has to fill out entry forms for contests and he can only have something if he wins it in contests... haha... hilarity ensues. It's so painfully funny when he finally wins a pillow so he could cover himself when going to answer the door to get packages of his winnings from the mailman. Golden... (BTW... someone's already asked me for the name of this show, I think it's called Depa Boy?? or something like that, translates roughly to Electric Current Boy??) My friends in Japan recently introduced me to a new show, an "a cappella" talent contest aka. American Idol Style. They sing all these awesome, crazy songs, from American to anime songs, haha.. it's great. Check 'em out. (I love how the dorkiest looking guy is always the crazy beat boxer... why is that...)
1) Aerosmith (I don't want to miss a thing) - Really bad Janglish warning
2) Space Cruiser Yamoto Theme Song - I love how accurate they are with the sound effects and how serious they take this
3) Glamorous Sky - Nana (by a group of cute high schoolers)
4) Automatic - Utada Hikaru (The 1st half is some pretty cool Japanese beat boxing, the 2nd half is the song,)
5) Theme from Slam Dunk Anime (They're REALLY good, this song brings back memories for me, hope they win)
6) Eye of the Tiger - I just can't help it, it's too cool not to share
In high school, I took 5 years of German and was rank #1 in class for most of those years. After all that hard work and memorization, I almost never had a chance to use my excellent Deutsch. Today, I think I can hardly cuss out a puppy with the amount of German I have left to me. Recently, I found a German band, Tokio Hotel, that I really kind of like, though sadly they're basically a German, emo boy band. Their songs are really catchy and they're even pretty big in Europe, especially amongst the tween crowd. (I know I'm just a few years older than that segment... but throw me a friggin' bone here okay...hehe... ) Even for all their popularity with non-German fans, all of their songs are in their native German. The best part, is of course, German lessons are on the rise all over Europe, because people want to sing the band's songs. I feel like I can finally use my Deutsch for something other watching old World War movies or translating BMW manuals. Now I just need my local karaoke shop to start ordering some German emo songs... right... like when Satan skates to work....
In the meantime, enjoy Tokio Hotel's MVs from YouTube:
