| this works!!!!! i'm not the lazy slacking xanga-updater person that i look like...this often finds reason to hate me and not allow me to post anything new....grrrrrr
:) now then!!
starting with Monday, November 22!! this was my first day of Thanksgiving Break.....oh was i thankful for it!!!! I went shopping with the 5 (G-dawg, Emi-Ice, Mega-D and R-factor...aka greta, emily, meghan and rachel)!! we found two sets of wonderfully coordinating outfits (meaning that they are the same style and whatnot, but different colors)....we loved and consequently bought the first ones that we tried on!!! we shopped for bunches of time, and it was great fun. then i went down to clinton (pronounced by me: cli-"n")...and had dinner with Shelly!!!! for those who do not grasp the significance of this.....it was WOW!!! absolutely awesome in every way except that it was raining and i passed her house the first time :) i saw her house and her room (and her waterbed!!!!!), and then we went to a darling little italian restaurant and looked at pictures, talked, and ate yummy food under the eye of an over-attentive waiter-guy....haha. then we went back to her house, saw some more pictures, talked about everything and nothing.....what a wonderfully fun time!!! i love shelly.
tuesday morning was another wonderful day off!! rach and i worked in the morning...pretty uneventful! then i came home, showered, had some lunch, and then my mom and i went shopping!!!!! it was soooo fun. i got like 3 sweaters, a church outfit, some presents for some fun friends, another couple of shirts, some shampoo and conditioner, and some things like that. it was so much fun, and my mom got tons of clothes too!! we are "efficient shoppers"...it kinda means that we get lots of stuff in a little bit of time, and save about the same amount of money that we spent!!! yea for us.
wednesday, i had breakfast at Panera Bread with Mrs. Leas. (it's a little cafe place with really good breads) i got a chocolate chip bagel.... yum yum. then i came home and helped julie clean her room. we went through tons of her clothes, and put them in outfits, and then went through everything in her desk.....way too much stuff everywhere!! we finished that, and then i went over to cathy's room, and helped her. we went her drawers, closet, books, desk, and cleaned all of the tops of furniture, and brought down about 50 pounds of dishes and numerous things that the rest of the family has been looking for- for several months!! anyway....her room looks awesome now!!!! haha. i ran to Bowie and exchanged some stuff, and then went to the Thanksgiving Eve Service at church. i was in a little play, in which i acted the part of a 15 year old brat who, because i couldn't go to an adult-less party even though my friend could go, threw a fit, slammed some food around, slumped over, and generally acted very childish :) it was fun. then meg, shawn, rachel, sandy, jon and i went to Applebees....what fun we had. i was so stinkingly indecisive, that i ended up asking for 3 different foods, and then finally getting one.....the lady thought that we were crazy by the end.
thursday was thanksgiving!!! my family slept in, and then went over to the Proctor's house (family friends). there we had dinner, i did the dishes, we watched 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, and then played a "worst case senerio survival game" that the kids most definately lost. it was a fun day.
friday: we didn't sleep in so much. i cleaned my house, and then peeled 10 pounds of potatoes. then i cooked a bit more, and got ready for the onslaught of family. we had my mom's family over..... my grandma was one child of 12....BIG family. Heather and Justin came (my 2nd cousins who are like 7 and 5 years older than me...very fun). it went well... it's sad to see my great aunts and uncles get older....after they all left, i went to church for puppet practice, and then we went over to shawn's house for a bonfire!!!! that was great, and i got to see lots of college and old people!!
Saturday: the puppet team went to the festival of trees, and shared Jesus and somewhat entertained some kids that were at the "breakfast (and lunch) with santa". that was relatively stress-free and practically enjoyable!! then i came home, put up decorations en mi casa, and took a little nappy nappy on the couch.... it was delightful!! then i went to the Gathering. there i saw old friends and new friends and friends i hadn't really met yet- i love that sort of stuff. THEN....the 5 came to church, and- after playing Nertz for a bit- we went to a house where meghan was housesitting....all by our lonesomes!!!! it was wonderfully fun, and a hint of what the beach will be like in june!!!! we watched Elf and Aladin (cause i haven't seen the latter, and the others hadn't seen the former)....greta and i had some funny awake moments while the others were asleep :) night people are fun at night.
sunday: what a day!! it starte out with rachel saying to me: "Karen! we have to be at church in 13 min!!!!" haha- that started a day of fun. emily shot up and put fruit-loops in baggies for our breakfast....greta and meghan just kinda sat up :) meghan got up when we left, though. rach ran upstairs and worked real fast to get beautified...i put on my clothes and threw my stuff in my bag...then we switched and drove 4 min to church for the sound check for choir...haha we sound good at 7:30 after a long night, yah? we sang in both services, and greta came!! we came home...my family had some lunch, (i took a quick nap while my mom was getting it ready) and then we went to get our CHRISTMAS TREE!! horray for that. we decorated the tree, and i did my room in lights. i lost to a string of lights...very sad....it just wouldnt' work!!! then jon, matt, shawn, rachel and i went to the mall. sandy met us there. we walked around, and bought very very very little. then the first 5 of us came to my house where we joined julie watching "White Christmas", and ate pretzles and mozzerella sticks!! my mom loves having people over :)
MONDAY...what a hard day to get up. i learned that day that i got a 110% on my "hard" psychology test, and a 61% on a hard calculus test....now i ask myself "where am i gifted? understanding people, or understanding crazy hard math stuff that doesn't apply to my life much more than school?".... mmmhmmmm....that's what i decided.
Tuesday: i had school, worked, iced some cupcakes with cathy at 10:30, and did tons of calc...and finished Hamlet!! how exciting
Wednesday: CATHY'S 16th BIRTHDAY!!!! wahoo. happy december too. i had some chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast..yum yum. i had a fieldtrip to Arena Stage in Washington, to see "the importance of being earnest"..it was good! 3 hours long AND full of intereting people that thought that some of my friends "were cute"....yah yah yah. then i came back to school, adn went straight to work, adn then swung by home to change and grab the keyboard, and then went to praise band practice at church. then we had youth group, small groups, and then i came home and did lots of ap physics homework....that's a headache if i've ever had one.
today was thursday...wow...!!! i woke up 45 min late, and then had like 2 min to pack my lunch....consequently, i had a sandwich and a rice crispy treat....sorta lacking. school went well. i ordered 35 dozen donuts for the honor roll assembly on dec 23rd.....always fun to pick up!! then rach and i worked, i had dinner....spaghetti!!!!...and then i went to the soprano sectional practice for the cantata...and then came home and did this and some NHS stuff, and i will commence with the calc.
live goes on. live it up. and remember the most important thing......which is not how to find the antiderivative.
| this update is for jn. he told me friday night that if he liked me and i liked him then we would be 'a thing'....so in honor of that grand title here i go!!!
today i went to quizzing (and quizzed out many times!) and to late service. then i saw my peter buckingham friend!!! not only has it been since like aug that i've seen him, but i've been up to grove city twice and he's been down once, and we've missed each other each and every time... so it was quite exciting!! then i came home, had some lunch, took a 20 min nap, went to FHG practice, got a part in a skit for wednesday night (Thanksgiving Eve Service), carried Heather around on my shoulders for a good chunk of time (she likes to be tall), went to puppet practice (where i'm the lead in "Feliz Navidad"- how fun!!!), and then i went to Rachel's house to watch Elf. i've never seen Elf.... it was pretty funny. Fun people such as Rachel, Meghan, Shawn, Krystal, Meg, Nate, Jon, Cathy and I were there, so we had a smashingly good time. :)
Saturday i got up and went to SAM'S with my mom....we picked up a cake for cathy's birthday, i got pictures from homecoming developed, and fun things like that. We came home, and decorated for cathy's surprise birthday party- she'll be 16 on December 1!!!!! she had gone up to visit her best friend, Elizabeth, who just moved up to PA this week....she was really surprised, and the party was fun. i gave her a big picture frame with 5 pictures of us when we were little and extra cute, and one when she was all dressed up for homecoming when we were very cute. She loved it :)
Friday i had school, worked, and then went to see Polar Express with the youth group bunch... that was fun.
Thursday i had school, work, and quizzing practice. in school, i had an immensely hard calc test.... i'm hoping for 50% right with a healthy curve of some sort. i had a party in english (breakfast!) and then a party in psychology. that test went smashingly well~ i like people better than numbers anyway!!!
Wednesday i had school, had some FCA- yea for new people!!!! went to youth group, and had a grand time with that. I did incredably large amounts of calc...impressed myself.
Tuesday i had school, worked, had a calc party at rach's.....yeah
Monday i had school, met meg in a coffee shop to work on SAT prep analogies and stupid math things- i mean...wonderful math strategies essential for success!!! lots of calc.
Last weekend was the first NAC rally. several great things happened. 1.) i was involved in choir and puppets only!!! 2.) shelly came by and i got to talk to her!!! yea!!!! 3.) i stuck with tradition and taught many a girl how to wash her hair in the sink 4.) i got to talk to fun district friends who i only see sometimes.... the weekend went well
i'll try to update better.....but we'll see. MAKE GOOD CHOICES!!!!!
| - (i wish that i had this CD.....maybe i'll get it today...) Haha- i'm sooo bad at this game of keeping this updated.....
Last weekend was homecoming (yea seniors!!!!), AND halloween- so much funness in a few days!!!! Here's my best friend's rendition of the evening (with a few minor changes, of course!!!): the pep rally was the best ever...the seniors won the points contest! woohhooo! the game was fun...even though we lost....but the coolest thing happened in the first 30 seconds of the game which was Southern scoring a touchdown! we had fun times talking to strangers...meeting each others dates....rating certain people's hotness...oh it was a blast! *then we came to MY house and had some ice cream-- how fun!!! we also took a really cute picture of the 5* then came saturday which was very fun and somewhat stressful but in not stressful at all in all ways...getting like 7 girls ready in one house was crazy but fun and hair was fun and getting my hair done was fun (my first time, yea!!)and oh i love pretty dresses on everyone! so then dinner was wonderful-our mothers are soooo goood....the boys were great...they bonded and everything...so fun....we fast danced....we slow danced....we chicken danced...we booty call danced...we ymca danced...oh so fun i love homecoming...by far the best! the other four of the fab five were excellent-beautiful, loving...and oh so much bonding time through 7 in the morning! i didnt' sleep a bit- everyone else did, the cheaters. Nate was soo fun...just imagine him and Shawn together...oh a sight to see! I went to church on sunday morning and sang most beautifuly, then i took a nappy nap for 3 hours, and then had FHG practice, and then some halloween!!! It was fun...especially the "two peas in a pod" costume....Rach and I are so cute sometimes. We went to church and smiled at people and got our picture taken many a dozen times. Then we went to jon's house to go trick-or-treating.... my first time EVER!!! it was fun. everyone else got there earlier, and started walking right throughout the neighborhood, and made every right possible...so i came up with the great idea of walking left- since they were about an hour ahead of us...and we found half of a million of my friends!!!
The week was pretty normal... the last one in the quarter, so i had 3 very hard tests on thursday. Friday was a 2 hour early out day, since it was the lastest day of the marking period.... so the 5 did our usual trip to Maggie Moo's, with a little chick-fil-a before....how fun was that!!!
This past weekend was the puppet conference in Lancaster, PA- we left church at 3:00 on friday afternoon.... yea for bus rides, cat fights, cds, hair and food!!! the puppet conference was fun.... full of random guys coming up to talk to me, but none the less, very interesting!!! My dad and grandpa came to pick cathy and i up when the conference was done on saturday afternoon, and took us to a restaurant near Lancaster, where my great aunt lives... we met my family, my great aunt, a great uncle, adn my cousins!!!!! that was greatly fun, since they live in deleware, and i dont' see them often. we had thanksgiving dinner up there, since my grandparents will be in Peru visiting some missionaries there over thanksgiving. we came home around 8ish on sunday night.
Monday, i got up at 5:30 and left at 6:40 with my dad to drive 6 hours up to Grove City for my interview (which went smashingly well!!), and then we drove 6 hours back, hurrah!! i drove for 5 of those 12 hours, which made it more funner. we listened to many a cd in that trip.
Now life continues. Much calculus to be done. yea for calculus parties!!! English is now murphy-less... the class is so totally way different when the teachers change...
i learned that my level of sleep deprivation is to the point where it affects my social life and my working habits....if i were more social, my parents might chain me to the house.
Be excellent to each other.
| wahoo- it's been a little slice of forever since i last wrote!!
i have, since that point, survived: a break-in to my house, senior picture proofs, violent friends that love me, a visit to the college that i love (Grove City- yea!!!!), many late nights, several calculus tests, 5 hay-rides, a couple of fires (outside, of course!!), some cold weather and some discussions with the parents- it all has ended well, so far.
Rachel and i are leading FCA again at our school this year- we are doing lessons on evangelism, and it seems to be good for everyone. more people come each week- yea!!
Spirit week is this week- and homecoming is this weekend- how fun that will be!!!!
I'll try to update more regularly, but life is crazy busy and generally very hardcore!!

| It's FRIDAY!!!!!!! wahoo... life is good. some good lyrics....
When You Called My Name
I want to preach the word They want massages I check chapter and verse They check their watches I spy another yawn I might as well be gone Let's stand and say, "Amen"
Some days I must admit I still don't get this Could be it's time to quit When days get like this I slip into the night Then stumble towards the light Wake up and try again
When You called my name I didn't know how far the calling went When You called my name I didn't know what that word really meant When I recall Your call I feel So small
Could be I'm losing touch Could be they don't care Lord knows I don't know much Lord knows I've been there I trip toward my retreat I fall down at Your feet Get up and try again
When You called my name...
Lord, what did you see When You called out for me?
I start losing hearts And then It comes again Lifted from despair By the prayers of someone Lifted from despair By the prayers of someone
