| one BIG announcementCheck out my official blog for a huge announcement. It's worth the jump.
P.S. Thanks everyone I subscribe to; I know I almost never comment, but I do look forward to reading my daily digest email every morning.
| 2 big announcementsSo I've got 2 big announcements. Ready?
1. I've booked a trip back to the Promised Land (Ohio as if you didn't know) for August 9th-14th. I hope to see lots of you. Times are booking quickly, so have your people contact my people and we'll do lunch. Oh, and I'm bringing a girl! ;)
2. I've started a new blog. The xanga experience has lost it's new shininess for me, so I've started a blog on my own space that has lots of features I like. Anyone can comment (no accounts required) and it's just better from design and maintenance points of view. My hope is it will motivate me to be a little more timely on posting. You can check it out here.
| After much thought and consideration, I have finally determined a name for my new car. Though it didn't appear in my list of candidates, the moment I considered it, I knew it was right. My new Ford Focus is now hereby named The Otis Spunkmeyer (like the cookie). Runners-up were The José Canseco and The Crazy Tom Cruiser. Those are available if anyone needs a car name.
GMA week in Nashville was fun. Click here to see some of the photos I took there. Speaking of photos, here's an updated gallery with some recent shots, but a bunch of old ones too.
Someday I want to start a film contest. I would buy a great 30-minute script from an established writer, and then give the script to teams competing to make the best film. It would be such a great way to compare directors and actors, to see how far they can take something when they start from the same place. It would be fun to watch a DVD with 5 different versions of the same movie because the same story would be told in completely different ways. It would show the great power the story teller has over the story.
It would be fun to do the same kind of contest with music. Get a demo for a great song and pass it on to different artists and production teams. Heck, make it a reality show. Let America vote and you have a hit when it's all done.
Come to think of it, the movie one would make great TV too. Have teams make a 2 minute short off the same script each week and see what happens. Just don't have 3 judges pretending not to be copying Randy, Paula, and Simon's chemistry.

Here's my new car. I still have not decided on a name. I'm open to suggestions. Current ideas include:
•The Kermit Cab •The Truck •The Green Monster •The Crazy Tom Cruiser •The Grape •The Watermelon •The José Canseco •The Harry Whittington
Any other ideas?
Also, who knows what toasted cheese is?
Thank you everyone who expressed concern and gratitude for my safety. And it's nice to know that if I ever want a lot of comments, I just need a have a near-death experience.

~The Tapanga: 2002-2006~ May she rest in peace. Today was a sad day for The Tapanga. Upon discovering a patch of black ice on the road to church, she fish-tailed left, then right, and then way left. It was then that she met a rough shoulder and, finally, the culvert that flipped her upside-down and brought her joy-filled life to an end. The Tapanga leaves behind her faithful owner of three years, Zachary J. Boehm.
"The Focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace." Matthew 6:6, from The Message

Yep, I crashed my car today. Yes, Dad, you were right. Texas road can still be slick and I should be more careful. I walked away from the crash without a single cut, bump or scrape. Nothing. Thank you, Lord. I called my parents to tell them, and my mom told me that as my dad walked out the door this morning, he said, "I'm worried about my son." He was worried about dangerous road conditions. Think he said a prayer? Think it made a difference?
