So yeah havent been on this thing for a while.  Well here is a short update

So I worked at Kanakuk all summer.  It was an amazing life changing experience that I can not fully explain in words.  It was physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually draining and streched me to my limits in all of those areas where I did not know I could be streached; and it was perfect.  I had to rely on God to get me through every day because I would have collapsed or lost my mind if God had not been there to push me along.  I had to rely on him more than I ever have in my life.  At times it was really hard to deal with the kids, the heat, the really long days, and oh yeah the kids.  But it was so rewarding.  I got to make a difference in some kids lives.  I could not see much of a difference in most of them but there was one kid named Andrew that changed my life.  He probally thinks that I was the one teaching him but it was the opposite.  I got to sit on our cabin porch and talk about God and life with him for two hours and in that two hours I gained a new perspective on life.  It was amazing how much passion this 11 year old kid had for learning more about God and actually living a life that reflects that.  If we all had Andrew Barnes passion about living for God we this world would be a better place.  I can not express the feeling of humbleness and imense honor that I had in having the opportunity to share some of my experiences and wisdom with Andrew and the rest of my campers.  Like I said these words do not do justice in explaining my summer or the impact it had on me, but it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and it was a true adventure.

Life for me now that I am back at school is great.  I live in a life of luxury.  I am in possibly the easiest major on campus, I really do not do much school work at all.  The fraternity is going great, I still love it and all of my brothers in it.  I could not ask for a better living situation.  I live under the same room with 10 of my closest friends.  And there are some pretty cool girls who live across the street one of which happens to be my girlfriend, Stephanie.  So yeah it is true, Scott Zarse actually found an amazing girl to call his own and she is amazing.  Steph and I have been good friends since last year and we worked together thsi summer at Kanakuk.  When school started, as a suprise to both of us, so did our interest in each other.  Since August 29th we have been dating and it is going great.

So that is a slice of my life, I wish all of you could be around to see the whole thing but know that I have been blessed.  Thank you Lord.

Alright here is a little something something for all of yall out there who are interested.

So last day of classes is today and finals start on sat.  It just so happens that I only have three finals and all of them are on saturday.  Plant Science, Small Engines, and Chemistry II are going to kick my butt.  So Saturday is going to be a stressfull day.  It is not looking good on keeping my 3.0 but we shall see.  But after Saturday I am done with all this class stuff for the year and that makes me happy.  However it does not make me happy that I have to leave all of my great friends once again.  This end of the year is not as bad however because I am really looking foward to this summer.  I am going to be heading to Kanakuk to work at K-1 first and second term.  I am going to be a counselor and driving the ski boat all summer. I am really excited aobut this.  I am really excited to see what God has planned for me this summer, I really think this is going to be a great time to grow closer to God and to make a difference in some kid's lives.  I really dont know what to expect but I know that it is going to be amazing and God is going to do some amazing things in my life.

So we had this thing called formal that was two weeks ago.  It was absolutly amazing.  My date was none other than the beautiful Laura Parrot.  So we left friday night and getting the boat up to KC caused a few minor difficulties but we got it up there in one piece and we all had a good time getting there.  Saturday morning we ate some stinkin good breakfast cooked by my wonderful grandma then we headed down to the lake.  The lake was great, about 15 of us all hung out at the lake all day.  We got to do some wakeboarding, tubing, we grilled some hot dogs and layed out in the beautiful weather.  It was really good to be out at my lake with my boat again, I have had so many great memories out there, it really brought me back to the old days.  The day at the lake was amazing but the night got better.  We went to eat at Lidia's this great restaruant downtown.  Our waitress was hilarious, she didnt think we were prom kids which is good, the pasta mini-dumplings were amazing, and we ate way too much.  After the great dinner we headed back to the hotel and danced the night away.  We finally called it a night around 2 in the morning.  Sunday morning we packed up and headed back.  The weekend was absolutly great I had an amazing time definitely a success.  Laura was a beautiful, amazing, fun date, I got to hang out with all of my brothers and I got to go back home I couldnt ask for a better weekend.  I got some sweet pictures here for ya to look at:

All of us at dinner

Look at that beautiful date

Oh yeah it was a great weekend, I always love the functions, always a good time.  But the very next weekend was Island Party and it went really well as well.  Unlike last year, this year it rained all week up till the party then it got really nice out, it turned out to be a beautiful night.  The party went really well and there were no problems which is really suprising.  I got a coupple pics here from the party:

Well that is all I have for now I guess. Life is really good right now, got pretty much anything I could ever want, a great God who blesses me with a great school filled with tons of great friends who bless my life every day.  Thank you everyone.

Hey all, hope all is well.  So here is a little bit of my life for anyone who is interested:

School:  Yeah so I really do not like this whole trying to do well in school thing, it is no fun.  So I had a book report due on Tuesday and Monday night at around 8:00 I finally figured out what book I was going to do.......yeah no good.  But I got it done, yeah read an entire 250 page book and wrote a 5 page report on it in one night, oh how I do love the procrastination.  But next year should be good, I just signed up for classes and it doesnt look too bad.  Since I decided to take an extra year to graduate I can take my time with my classes meaning that I am going to be taking a maximum of 12 hours every semester from here on out and some of those hours will be amazing classes like ballroom dance and weight training.  So I am excited about that.

Spring Break:  Oh my was it amazing.  So we went to LA and we vacationed like no one has vacationed before.  So we road tripped to LA but not before we stopped at the Grand Canyon-where there happened to be a blizzard.  Yes in the middle of Arizona there was a blizzard and we couldnt see 10 feet in front of our face much less the grand canyon.  But it was great.  We continued our journey on towards the coast.  So some stuff happened then we did what we came to do...be stars!  3am rolled around and we found ourselves in line for the Price Is Right.  It was a long and exciting day but it ended with our friend Nathan getting on the show and winning the entire showcase showdown, 36,000$ in prizes.  Since he won we all rushed the stage, and I jumped in the car that he won, and shook Bob's hand and talked to his beauties and was on TV.  It was a pretty exciting day to say the least.  The week continued on and we hit up the beach a coupple times, hollywood, downtown, the 3rd street prominade, and did tons of other exciting stuff.  On our way back Robyn, Tim, Kaufman, Monique, Barry and I hit up Las Vegas.  All I have to say about Vegas is-what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!  Ok, nothing really crazy happened but it did entail us getting there around 6 at night, hitting some sweet hotels and casinos, me winning 10$ at the roulette table, Tim winning 25 bucks playing poker, Kaufman losing 1$ at his one shot at greatness, Barry and Monique losing 90 big ones and calling off the plans to elope, Robyn making 9$ dancing on the sidewalk, us finally crashing in the cars in the parking lot of a gas station at 4am, getting waked up at 6 am by the gas station clerk and heading out of the city of lights.  It was a pretty amazing night and a perfect end to our amazing week.  There were plenty of amazing stories and events that happened, I made some great new friends and became closer to some of my already close friends, it was an amazing spring break.  Here are a few pics from our trip:

Oh yeah the trip was pretty stinkin sweet!

So this year is coming to an end here in a little bit, and that makes me sad.  But on the other hand I am really excited about this summer.  I am working at Kanakuk and Camp War Eagle all summer and I think that it will be an amazing experience where I will be able to grow close to the Lord and make a difference in some kid's life.  So this summer is going to be awsome.  But it is not here yet we still got some pretty sweet stuff coming up such as the Better Than A Million BUC's Dinner on Thursday, Formal, and Island Party.  Speaking of formal I figured out who the lucky lady will be: none other than the wonderful ever so beautiful Laura Parrot.  I am extremly excited about it.  I know it will be an great weekend.

Alright, that is enough for now, more to come later...

Wednesday, March 15, 2006

Hello all.  Due to the fact that I have 3 papers due tomorrow morning and I havent even started on them yet I think now is a good time to procrastinate a little more and update yall on the ever so exciting of your one and only Scott Zarse!

School:  So I did it everyone.  Last week I actually made it to all of my classes, this was a first for the  year.  Yep, every class monday through friday I went to, it was a pretty big acomplishment for me.  But the problem this semester is that my teachers actually give me homework and stuff, I know crazy isnt it?  But I looked into it and they arent breaking any rules or anything by making me do this work outside of class stuff so I guess I will have to do it.  But seriously it has been really hard trying to get all of my homework done with all the other stuff that is going on, so I have decided to quit my job.  For those of you who dont know I am a waiter at Marketplace, but not for long, tomorrow is my last day!  So that is going to be pretty stinkin sweet.  So we shall see if that helps out the school situation any, but truthfully I am not worried about school that much, if I have to take some classes over again I will.  I am in no hurry to get out of here.

Spring Break:  So Spring Break starts here in two days and I couldnt be more excited about it.  So here is the plan:  15 of us are going to road trip out to California, stay in L.A. and go be on The Price Is Right.  Yeah that is right, we are going to try to catch Bob before he croaks.  We are going to stop by the grand canyon on the way there, hit up the beach and the shows while we are there and then when we are driving back in our brand new RV that we won on the show we will hit up Las Vegas where I will probally sell my friend Kaufman to some lonley girls for gambling money, make a small fortune playing poker, and retire early.  So yeah it will be an exciting week to say the least, especially when we are watching the Hogs play Duke in the final four of the big dance!  Yeah, yeah, is anyone with me? Oh well.

So we went to BYX Summit in Dallas on the weekend of the 18th which was a blast.  The actual summit part of it was ok, it was cool to see a bunch of other guys from other chapters there but the real fun was the member retreat afterwards.  We went to Hunter's grandparents house and had a blast.  We had some stinkin good home cookin by Mama and Papa B, played some hot games of golf ball bounce, had a crazy push up contest, and then played spades and presidents till the wee hours of the morning.  Man I will never cease to believe how blessed I am, I had an absolutly amazing weekend with my brothers and I love them all, God just keeps on throwing those blessings down at me.  I dont know what I am going to do when one day I am going to have to say goodbye to them.  But oh well that wont be for a while, I still have a while left and I am going to savor every day.

Well that will be all for now, enjoy these pictures of all the functions that I have gone to this year, there are some really good memories behind those pictures, I will try to expound on them if I can.

First function of the year.  You all remember Andrea right?  My main interest at the begining of last semester.  Well things never worked out there but it is actually alright because we are good friends now and I wouldnt have it any other way.  Andrea is best friends with Steph, the girl in the picture below me, and these two are my girls.  I have really gotten to know the both of them a lot this year.  It is great to have some friends beyond my BUC brothers and I couldnt have asked for better friends.  Given the fact that I dont have any sisters and have for the most part only have guy friends I really dont know much about girls, so it is great to have a girls perspective and advice on things now and I dont know what I would do with out them.

Here we have Steph and I at the Reindeer Rendezvous Function taking a picture on the square.

Rachel and I at the Pesants and Royalty Function.  I had a blast at this function, we were dressed as pesants and I think we did a pretty good job with our coustmes if you ask me.  Good story with this one:  As it turns out despite the fact that I was kinda interested in her at the time, she  is dating one of my  best friends, Brenton.  Now before you go off and jump down Brent's back for swiping her out from under me know that I am the one who told him to go after her.  He didnt want to cause we are really good friends and that is against the rules, but I wanted him to and I am very happy for them both.  I am really happy for him cause she is a great girl and I couldnt have picked anyone better for him.  And I am really glad for Rachel cause if I wasnt the one she was supposed to be with I cant imagine anyone better for her than my good bud Brenton.  So it turned out good.

The Pi Phi Formal, my date, Jessica is a great girl and we had a great time at Formal.  Ended up going on a date with her the next week, actually a doubble date with Brenton and Rachel, yes the same one from above.  It was fun, she is a great girl, a great christian, really attracitve, and I had fun with her but for some reason or another I am just not feeling anything more than friendship with her.  Couldnt tell you why, probally just because I am a little bit crazy, but that is ok.

This is all of the BUC guys that were at the Pi Phi Formal, what can I say, us BUC's are a hot item when it comes to finding a date for the Pi Phi functions.

Ahh, the Grab a Doe and Go with Elise.  This was a swing dancing function and I will tell you in all modesty that we were tearing up the floor.  Ok, maybe not, but Elise is a really good swing dancer and I had a blast with her.  Elise works at Marketplace with me and is the brother of Drew, one of my friends in BUC's.  We had a blast at this function, but hey, it was Elise, who wouldnt have had fun with her?

Alright that is it for the functions for the year just one left and it will be amazing: Formal.  Yeah the big bad formal is coming up, it is in my hometown Kansas City this year and I couldnt be more excited.  I dont even know who the lucky lady who will get to be my date will be yet but I am already getting excited about it.

Alright I am off for now fellow readers.  As always stay tuned for more from the wild and crazy life of yours truly.

I love you all.

Alright, so Im sure that no one reads this anymore but for those of you that do your waiting has finally come to an end.  I have got some sweet pics and stories to tell you.  Well I left you right before Christmas break and oh my was it a good one.  Here we go:

Well first off I was supposed to start off the break going on a doubble date with Carrie Underwood, the past American Idol winner for those of you who dont know.  One of my friends that I work with is her boyfriend and we were supposed to go on a doubble date with them two and Andrea and I.  Well that fell through and we werent able to make it happen.  I was upset that I didnt get to meet her, but truthfully I was probally more upset that I didnt get to go on a date with the girl that was going to be my date, Andrea.  But oh well that whole thing was an entire nother story entirely.

The break went on with me working every day and doubbles most of the days for about 2 weeks.  Yeah, this part of the break sucked royally.  Really.  I was about to tear off the head of the next customer that asked me what our sweet corn is...........ITS FREAKIN CORN! You know the stuff the indinas helped us make! Come on people.  Sorry.  Anyways, yeah work really blew for those 2 weeks but I definitely made some good money.

Next came my trip to T-Town.  Yeah I headed to Tulsa to hang out with all my guys there and got to hang out with my girls a little too.  I had a blast in Tulsa.  I always do though.  I stayed with my good friend Blake.  He is a great guy and I was glad I got to hang out with him alot over the break.  But Tulsa was a blast.  I had a great time.

From Tulsa I left for my next destination on my journey across the country.  I went to Passion with Asbury, the church in Tulsa that most of my friends go to.  Passion was amazing.  I had a great time hanging out with all of my friends that I went with but I also had a good time meeting alot of the other people that went with us.  Got to meet a lot of Blake and Thomas's friends and they are all really cool people who I really enjoyed getting to know.  Passion itself was pretty amazing.  The best part for me was definitely just seeing 18,000 college students all worshiping God at the same time.  It was aw inspiring.

Well after Passion we drove back to T-Town but I turned around and headed straight back to Fayetteville.  But just for a short time.  This is when we started our Road Trip 06'!  There are way too many stories that happened on our road trip to tell here but I will hit the hi-lights.
So we (myself, my roomate matt, and my buddy andrew parrish) took off from Springdale, AR around noon on the afternoon of January the 7th.  We were about to embark on a journey that would change our lives forever..........well ok, maybe not but it was a stinkin sweet week and a half.  We drove to Tulsa and got the oil changed in the car where we were able to see our wonderfull friend Amanda.  We couldnt visit long though because we had a lot of road ahead of us that was calling our name.  So I drove through the night all the way to Amarillo, Texas with only a "minor" setback in Oklahoma City that consisted of getting lost looking for maps at 4 different outdoor stores around the city.  It was a collossal waste of time but fun none the less.  So after about 12 hours straight of driving Parrish took over the controls of the "adventure-mobile" After making it without too much difficulty through Roswell, NM and a fairly creepy wind generator field we arrived to this city in New Mexico that I really cant recall the name of.  We ended up climbing a small mountain there, taking a nap at the top and getting sun burnt.  It was good times.  But our journey continued.  Parrish drove a little farther West to Silver City, New Mexico where we did some camping for a few days in the Hila National Forest.  This is by far the best part of our trip and where most all of the pictures below are from.  The short version is that we hiked about 4 miles, Parrish and I hiked up a huge mountain with tons of cliffs, camped that night, hiked another 4 miles along a river to a hot spring.  The spring was about 85-90 degrees and was a blast.  We then went ahead and night-hiked the whole 8 miles back to the car.  Amazing.  That was what the entire hike was, simply amazing.  Cant be described in words and the pictures do it no justice either.  Well after that we continued on to Cali.  We hung out in San Diego a while, hitting up a few beaches and eatin at this great little pizza shop in Coranado where Kramp and Parrish became smitten with our waitress.  Oh my fun times.  Well after that we headed up to L.A. where we lived on the edge and slept in our car in the parking lot of this grocery store outside of Hollywood.  In L.A. we went to be a studio audience for the late late show with craig furgeson.  After that we went out for a night on the town and ate at this really cool restaurant while listening to this band that was playing on the side of the street.  After that we headed back.  We stopped by the grand canyon on the way back but not before Kramp almost killed us all.  So he fell asleep while driving and wrecked the car, sending us careening across the road, through the median and into oncoming traffic.  Thankfully we were all ok and the can of gas that was in the trunk did not explode!  So we continued to drive to the Grand Canyon where we stayed for a coupple hours then drove straight back to the F-Town.  And that concluded our amazing journey to the end of the earth and back.  We made it without killing eachother and having some fun in the process.  So over all I would say it was a sucessfull trip.  Here are some pics to prove my point:

Parrish taking a leap

Sunset atop a mountain

Cool scenery

Parrish hanging from a cliff looking through a hole.

The same hole that Parrish is in

If you look closely you can see me climbing up that rock.

Yeah that is the moon I am holding in my hand.

Parrish and I at the top of the mountain.

Parrish and I wasting film at the end of the roll at the end of our journey.

Silouette of the skyline on our way down the mountain.

That is me going down in to the abyss on our way down the mountain at night, yeah that was a smart idea.

Sunset at Coranado

My roomie and I on Coranado Island.  If only it would have been a girl with me on the beach at sunset............

Another at sunset, I love sunsets and I love the water, the two together are amazing

Grand Canyon, it was cool, but compared to the other things we did and saw it was just alright.

Look at that sky.

My roomate swimin in the hot spring.

Takin it all in.

Backpacking.

Atop the world!

Well there you have it our Road Trip.  It was an amazing experience and one that I would love to do again.  Well that is it for this post I believe.  If you actually read the entire thing then why thank you very much for caring that much.  Well actually you just probally have way too much time on your hands, but thanks anyways.  But hey, I will be back later, it might be a while like sometimes, but I will be back so stick around for more from the wild and adventerous life of the one and only Scott Zarse.
