| He
is said to have been the son of Conis and Darerca, the sister of St.
Patrick, whom he accompanied to Ireland and helped to evangelize in
that country. According to the Life of St. Brigid, he is said to have
had no fixed See, which might fit in his being a missionary. St.
Patrick himself built the church at Ardagh and to this he appointed his
nephew, Mel. Acting upon the apostolic precept, he supported himself by
working with his hands, and what he gained beyond bare necessities, he
gave to the poor. For sometime, he lived with his aunt Lupait, but
slanderous tongues spread serious accusations against them, and St.
Patrick himself came to investigate their conduct. Mel was plowing when
he arrived, but he cleared himself of the charge by miraculously
picking up a live fish from the ground as if from a net. Lupait
established her innocence by carrying glowing coals without burning
herself or her clothing. St. Patrick was satisfied, but he told his
nephew in future, to do his fishing in the water and his plowing on the
land, and he moreover, enjoined them to avoid scandal by separating,
living and praying far apart. St. Mel's feast day is February 6. | | |
| So the March for Life is coming up. This will mark my 6th straight year going. This year I will be going as a chaperone for the youth group, so that will be a lot of fun. Last year was very eventful and memerable for me, especially meeting the group of fellow Catholic college students from the south. It was very cool to talk to and pray with them. I'll probably be rappin a little here and there since I do have 2 full length pro life rap songs (1 old and 1 new). I'm hopin to bump into my friends from Franciscan U that would be VERY cool...prolly would make my 2006 thusfar haha | | |
| yeah it was pretty cool. I got to hang out with and record with the man known as Sammy Blaze the whole time I was there. I think he got 6 songs recorded and I got 9 songs recorded (I won). Yesterday we pulled an all nighter and recorded each other's stuff while the normal guy slumbered like a baby. It was fun, especially when I recorded my thong song parody (strong song) at 5 AM. Sammy Blaze and Zealous....there are 2 CD's that will be must have's come this summer when they both will be out. yayah | | |
| So I am leaving for Texas to go record at phatmass studios today through Sunday. Besides the rediculous number of things that happened in the last two days that made this possible, this is shaping up to be an insanely shweet. Just thought I'd "update my xanga". | | |
| Fan The Fire was pretty sweet. I had perhaps too much fun with Chris on the roof throwing the cinder blocks down as people were leaving (in their cars) at the end of the day. It was also cool that I played Jesus in the drama and actually got it down, considering I learned it the night before pretty much. The concert was ehhh, it definately could have been better. The sound quality of the equiptment stunk from the get-go, and not just for me, for Final Hour too. The difference is I am more relying on my background music, so my set sounded worse. It also didn't help that I had no monitor, meaning I had no way of knowing how loud my vocals were to the music. But hey, I have heard mostly good from it. I sold all but 2 cd's that I had out for sale, and I probably have another show on the way at Mount Saint Mary's college. Fr. Tom Betz also wants to have me do a show for some sort of Capuchin event sometime. So my 2006 is shaping up to be a busy one musically (sweet). In addition to those 2 potential shows, I have Fan The Fire Philly, Proud2bCatholic (Lancaster) on april 22, possibly but not likely York Catholic event, Proud2bCatholic in Framingham, Mass (august). And there might be others on the way, I have had conversations about possibilities so who knows...I think the greatest thing to look forward to is the new cd. When that drops things will get nuts. I am holding my breath.... | | |
