FIRST REAL OFFICIAL BLOG ENTRYI was checking out the toolbar and thought I'd see the different font styles and WHOA! Didn't know there were so many different ones. I thought I would start out by explaining my Blog name and my E-mail name. If you have read my likes you'll notice I have this thing about angels. I believe there are Angels Among Us. (I also like C&W music and that is a title to a song by the group Alabama). Angels can be friends; some you can see and some you can't; they are in many different places. More on angels in a minute. A very dear friend, as a matter of fact, my very best friend for several years was taken in March 1994 after a brave battle with AIDS. At the time I was living in the Houston suburb of Pearland. He was one of those friends that you could share your darkest secrets and you knew he wouldn't tell a soul. We could laugh together, cry together and play together and we did all of this until he was too weak to get out and around any more. I lived with him and his roommate for the final year of his life and he was such a blessing even though he was in constant pain and his health was failing. Even when he was around strangers or acquaintances he could make people smile. He had taken a trip to the Hill Country (Teralingua, TX) with friends. I was unable to go this particular time. I had made the trip with him a couple of times before and he had confided in me before that that is where he wanted to die; in God's beauty. I miss him terribly, but I know he went on to a much better place with no more pain and suffering for him and his frail body. He was only 35 years young. Anyway, back to my e-mail name. David loved zebras! He had so many things that were black and white. When he had to use a wheelchair, his mom made a thin fluffy cushion for him and she made it out of zebra material. Also, listed in my likes are bears. This is how I arrived at the screen name zebrabear. Shortly after David passed away, I started hearing the song, Angels Among Us an awful lot and that is when I really started the "ANGEL" interest in my life. There is a saying: Only the good die young!. He had such a loving, giving gentle spirit and he touched so many lives by just knowing them. I would love to make that kind of impression on someone. So much for this first official blog that is more that 2 or 3 lines long. If you read this and have friends that would like to sign in to my blog, that would be great. Hope everyone is having a great day. |
