Strange huh? I'm flying out on Thursday to Amsterdam for a little while, then to Budapest where we're renting a car and driving to Prague, then to Slovenia, then to Croatia, back up to Badpest, then taking another flight to Greece for a couple of weeks, then to Germany, then back to Seattle, bum around Seattle for a few days, then load up my truck and drive across the country back to Texas for my Graduate degree. I suppose the next few months might be a little busy....and expensive. I was told to expect 4 dollars per gallon in gas when I returned from Europe.

I played another show last night which turned out pretty good. There's a huge concert going on this weekend called Bumpershoots so when I first started playing I was literally playing to all of five people, but as the night progressed people started pouring in, so it was pretty cool. So I was really hungry and it was about three in the morning so I stopped by Pizza Passions and got a pizza.... don't you hate it when you eat a whole lot before you go to sleep and then you feel like crap the next morning? Well that's what happened. Anyways... I'm rambling. Be back in a few months.

Sunday, July 31, 2005

Happy Birthday to me. For those of you that forgot, well bollocks to you...not really. Things are going well... I've got an entire Saturday night to myself at a pretty popular bar called Molly Maguire's... which also means that my name is on the radio and posters on street lights etc. I played a show last night which also was well received, so I suppose you could say that things are looking very well. I've become an adopted family member of The Ould Triangle, so I celebrated my birthday with all new friends and playing a show, then when I came home (around 4 in the morning) I opened up my present, which my mother insisted I wait till Sunday to do (so I did, just really early) and got an amazing digital camera, then to complete the night/morning, I called Kelly and fell asleep on the phone, which we discussed ad nauseum. So there's a new post for you.

Monday, June 20, 2005

Long time no write I suppose. Sorry for the delay (I'm sure all of you are biting your nails with anticipation for my next post). Well I don't have too much time to write, but I can say that so far I've been to the Rainforrest, surfing, stayed at an Indian Reservation, started building an office for a retired professional skateboarder, met a guy who is deeply connected in the music scene up here and I'm set up to jam with the drummer from Alice in Chains! Kelly is in New York right now... so I hope you're having a blast and surviving your family. Don't forget to go to the MET!!!!!!!!! I haven't forgotten you Mrs. Miller, but my excite account is pretty screwed up right now... but I haven't forgotten. I haven't quite figured out how to post pictures on here (kind of like a picture gallery), so if you know how give me some pointers and I'll put up some amazing pics. I am loving it up here but I really miss my Texas people...there's just nobody like us I'm telling you. I've been all over the U.S., except for the Dakotas and Nebraska area...but come on who want's to live there? Anyways... I've been all over and Texans are by far the best quality people I've come across... and it's not because I'm bias (I am now) because I used to think that we Texans were the worst. Since that dark time I have seen the light... so all of you that read this and happen to be from Texas (I feel ALL of you who read this are from Texas)...kudos.

Sunday, May 22, 2005

Hey everybody. I just got in to Seattle this morning at about two o'clock (sorry for calling so late Kelly, but I told you I would... I hope you're feeling better by the way). I had an amazing road trip that I will undoubtedly remember for the rest of my life. I have loads of pictures and I'd love to put some on this page if possible. I don't have much time to write more, but I will fill those who care in on how my trip went. Adios

Monday, May 09, 2005

I'm out and have to have surgery and what do I see when I check my

a man feel good...like he's doing his job. Anyways, for the
apparent very few who read this page, I'm not going to post again till
I get settled in Seattle most likely, so take care.
I can not freaking believe what has
happened to me. I just found out that I have to receive knee
surgery on Friday. This is the mother of all ironies. Would
you like to know why? Well, I'll tell you. I have been in
the most dangerous fights, car wrecks, accidents, and all around
gravely dangerous situations than anyone I've ever met in my life, but
what brings me down?.... What ends up forcing me to have KNEE
SURGERY?.......GETTING UP FROM SITTING IN AN INDIAN STYLE POSITION ON
MY LIVING ROOM FLOOR!!!!!!!! What makes it worse is that my
parents have to come up to wheel my sorry ass around... which (don't
get me wrong) I love seeing them and spending time with them, but
they're having to ask off work and take care of me... and for any of
you that know me at all, you know that I hate people having to do that
stuff because of me more than I hate Barbra Streisand. Plus I've
got finals coming up (tomorrow actually) and papers and projects
etc. Oh, I forgot to tell you what happened to my knee....well
earlier yesterday afternoon I hyperextended my knee fooling around the
house. "No big deal" I thought. So thiry minutes later I'm
sitting indian style in the living room and I get up (I did the super
cool move where you just pop up using your legs sans arms) and as soon
as I turn around I know something is wrong because I'm all of a sudden
sweating in forcing myself not to throw up and to gather my sense of
equillibrium. After I gather my senses I realize that I can not
move my leg either way from it's bent position at a 90 degree
angle. Well come to find out, I have a lateral meniscus tear,
which means that the cartilage is torn and wedged up underneath my
kneecap so that I (literally) cannot straigthen my leg, nor can I tuck
it up (if I wanted to squat down to pick up something)... my leg is in
a perfect "L." Enough of my complaining.... I suppose I needed to
vent.
Seminar class over Ernest Gaines' "A Lesson Before Dying" coming up and
I'm pretty excited about it. I plan on illustrating the parallel
between literature and music, because (in my case anyways) I always
relate the two. When I'm reading a novel I pick up on an author's
rythms, technique, subtleties, and the complexities of his composition
that I directly relate to a musical genre and/or musician. In the
case of Ernest Gaines I see his style as very similar to the musical
styles of (probably the most influential bluesman of all time) Robert
Johnson. Their technique could best be described as subtle but
ample, leaving the reader/listener to dig as deep as they want to
and take away as much as they care to. Anyways... here's a poem I
don't think I've posted, it's called "Dance of the Gods"

The ebb and flow of the tides
wash against the lavendar skies.
At that point on the horizon,
where the polished plane is reached,
there the Gods dance on their wing-ed feet.

Laying back in to the wet sand,
I find relief as I exhale, observing breath nearing night,
their pillow, cloudlike forms rise on.
A sigh comes, from knowledge of expectations never reached.
Never to dance with the Gods on their tango floor of the sea.

Nor dance with their wing-ed feet
