| My first U2 Experience...oh what a time! So, wow, this past weekend seems like a total blur, but looking back on
it, it was an amazing experience...i'll detail it a bit for you
got home thursday night, went to bed about 6:30pm to wake up at
10...got up, finished packing then met matt around 12:45am at LifeWay
and we hit the road for Atlanta. Sometime around 5:15am we rolled into
the ATL, secured an awesome parking spot for what we thought would be 5
bucks as an early bird (more on that later)...so after grabbing our
blankets and stuff out of the car, we headed over to Philips Arena to
sign in for the day...see, the general admission line for a U2 concert
is a self-governing system of signing a sheet of paper and writing a
number down on your hand...Matt and I were 53 and 54...not too
shabby...well we made our spot and tried to stay warm for the next 13
hours...we got to know some awesome people around us...shame I can't
remember most of their names, but they were really nice...everyone is
real cool about getting out of line to go grab a bite to eat or go warm
up for a bit...this was the longest part of the day...so around 4:30
everyone goes and puts their "camping" gear away and gets ready to go
in at 6pm...we line up, tickets scanned, wristbands placed on...there
is a lottery type system for determining who gets inside of what's
called the "ellipse" and who isn't ...well, both me and matt didn't
make the ellipse, but all was well (just see the pictures below, you'll
understand)...so we rush to the arena floor to find a spot and land an
awesome spot right on the barricade...this is where the fun begins...
well we waited around and finally, Institute came on...its the new band
from former Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale...over the weekend I renamed
them Instisuck...they were ok, just not what I wanted to hear before
U2...well after 45 minutes, they finished and the set change
began....after 40 minutes or so, the now famous song to U2 fans, "Wake
Up" by The Arcade Fire came on and then U2 entered the room to a
extremely loud roar...from that point on, its hard to describe what all
went on, but it was absolutely beautiful...at one point, Bono came over
to our area and stepped out onto the barricade and stuck his hand out
for us to pull him over, so several of us right there grabbed his hands
and pulled him over...it was pretty freakin cool...yes, I touched the
man and it was awesome...
After that show, we headed to our hotel to only find that the hotel was
overbooked and we were being sent to a new hotel, except at this one,
we didn't have to pay cause the first hotel was paying for us...so that
was a nice treat...always good to save some money...oh and on the
parking, well when we went into the deck, the policy was take a ticket
and pay when you leave...well, sometime during the day it became pay
when you come in, so when we left, there was no one taking money, so we
got a free full day of parking...nice eh?
On saturday, Matt, Tim, and I all went to see "Walk The Line", which I
really recommend...as many know, I'm an avid Cash fan, so I'll say its
good, not totally accurate, but still quite a good movie...maybe Oscar
worthy in some categories...
Tim left us and Matt and I headed back to Philips for night 2 of
U2...this time we had seats, which made the show not nearly as exciting
as on the floor, but it was still incredible...with them closing with a
person favorite "Bad"....very special 2 shows....
got home around 3:30am and hit the bed...we were quite exhausted...but
I wouldn't trade any of the money spent or time invested into this
trip...for I had a dream fulfilled and I honestly don't think it could
have gone any better...
Ok, picture time...I think this is the longest post i've ever written...here's to breaking records...

I guess that's it for now...I could keep posting these all night long,
but I'll refrain from that.... if you wanna check out the whole set go

| waiting for matt. once he
gets here, we're off to Atlanta to see U2...I'll certainly let you know
how that all goes...all i know is that the next day will be exhausting,
yet totally worth it

| so i guess i should post something eh? its been a bit since i have
well lets see...been on sort of a crazy schedule the past few
weeks...did a family trip to northern KY weekend before last, came back
sunday and left for phoenix arizona for some training with a company
for my work with lifeway...got back wednesday night...then friday
headed up to jonathan creek for our middle school fall retreat....which
was totally awesome...and i'm still seriously exhausted...not alot of
time to recover cause i'm turning around to do the same thing this
coming weekend for our high schoolers...oh but its so much fun....
then comes the big news of the day...i got a promotion at work!!! ...
I'm no longer a department assistant...i'm now the online learning
technical associate...i've been doing this work for several months, but
as of november 16th, i'll finally be getting paid for it...and my bank
account thanks lifeway for that boost in income...good things are
happening right now...i'm just excited to see where God is taking me...
what is like 11 days till i see U2? dang, i remember when it was 8
months away...i can't believe its this close...oh the fun to be
had...but before that we have the fall retreat and ben folds/the fray
at the ryman on sunday night...which a good time will certainly be had
by me and matt....
anyways, i'm trying to get over my flaired up allergies from the
weekend, so i hope i can breathe soon...that would be a nice
change...anyways kids, have a great one...till next time...

| Had quite an uneventful weekend really...just did alot of chillin'...my
sister's boyfriend James was in town, so we hung out some, a little
different at times, but a good time was had by all...I did get some
much needed cleaning done...
we threw, well actually CJ and Ranie threw a suprise going away party
for one of our youth associates and her husband and child...it was a
bittersweet evening...they're moving to birmingham, so its not far, but
we'll still miss them...best part is that i'm taking over Jeremy's
fantasy football team in the church league...he's tired of it and with
not being around, it won't be as much fun for him...so that means i'll
probably be able to be in the league next year...had to sit this year
out due to limited space in the league...oh the goofy things guys do to
be competitve...
Only 26 days until I get to witness on of the greatest things on earth...U2
This is what I hope to see!!!

I'll leave you with the song of the moment...think on this one for a bit....
It'll All Work Out - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
She wore faded jeans and soft black leather
She had eyes so blue they looked like weather
When she needed me I wasn't around
That's the way it goe s, it'll all work out
There were times apart, there were times together
I was pledged to her for worse or better
When it mattered most I let her down
That's the way it goes, it'll all work out
It'll all work out eventually
Better off with him than here with me
It'll all work out eventually
Maybe better with him than here with me
Now the wind is high and the rain is heavy
And the water's rising in the levee
Still I think of her when the sun goes down
It never goes away, but it all works out | | |
