I can't wait until tommorow and the day after. I have NOT felt at the top of my game lately. I have gotta be coming down with something. Er, oh...I suppose I should mention that those days are my day off. Might be having an early Thanksgiving with Liz on Tuesday though. That should be cool, she said she's got lots of food. :) And then eventually I'll have Thanksgiving with my parents/brother/sister...probably my Aunt P....so it'll be like two thanksgivings.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

The game I've been waiting for since the first on the Gamecube (the game that made me a Tales fan) has come out. My first impressions are as follows.

Personally, I like it quite a bit so far. Story wise I'm very interested to see where they are going with it...I don't really want to spoil it too much because the opening scenes are kind of shocking if you haven't seen them before and have played the first one. It seems uniting the two worlds had a lot of consequences...I expected some of them, but others I actually hadn't thought of, though they make sense actually (I'm talking about how the people of Tethe'alla with their higher level of technology looking down a bit on the Sylvaranti).

Gameplay wise, it plays very well. The monster catching aspect is rather interesting, and gives you a chance to use some of those classic Tales monsters in battle. :) The battles flow like Tales of Symphonia, but a bit different...and dare I say faster, which I really like. There is actually a run button now that lets you run anywhere on the field during a fight, though you have to be careful because any hit while running like that counts as a critical hit (so you can't just totally abuse it). It almost seems to play like a fusion of Tales of the Tempest's battle system and that of Tales of Symphonia...in a good way I mean (eh, Tempest is ok, but it could have been a lot better :P).

I like the new characters so far...Emil, though he starts off really whiny in the first hour, is pretty likable, and Marta seems like fun. ^_^ Tenebrae, their companion (he's a cool, monster dog thing...not sure how to describe how he looks, but he looks cool anyway) is pretty awesome. He seems to like screwing with Emil. :P There have been some pretty funny skits so far. Oh yeah, the skits are all voiced now, as they were in the japanese version of Tales of Symphonia. I'm glad they did voices for all the skits this time, it adds to it as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway, I might talk more once I play more.

This is amazing. Also, I've heard this rumor on Kotaku, from someone claiming they heard it from their friend who interned with Obama's campaign:

The job involves getting him something to eat, maybe playing a little basketball with him, and basically chatting and getting whatever he needs between important things. During the conversation, apparently Zero Wing came up. You know, the Sega Genesis video game. I don't know how. And apparently, my friend made the off-hand comment of "All your base are belong to us". And Obama leaned forward in his chair, quirked his eyebrow a bit, and responded "What you say?"

This video kind of supports it. :D

Strange, Funny, Heartrending

I forgot to mention...I played to the end of Mother 3 a couple of days ago. It really lives up to it's tagline (as seen in the subject). I've had games make me sad before, but I don't think I've ever had a game make me cry like this game. Even thinking of the ending right now is making me teary-eyed....Go play it, I don't think you'll dissappointed. I personally would put it near the top of the list of "Best Games I've Ever Played", and I've played a lot of them...if you'll excuse me, I think I have something in my eye.

I'm really tired of people right now.

Just...really really tired.

This person I work with, I don't have much respect for them right now. They were talking yesterday about Obama, and said:

"Oh, he'll probably be assasinated."

Then I say: "E...excuse me?"

"That's the public opinion right now."

I got really pissed off, because from the way it sounded....well, talking about anyone's life in that way is terrible (Obama, McCain, even Bush as much as I'm happy his presidency is nearly over). And today, she drew me into the same fucking discussion again. Right afterwards she said "Oh, well I don't know if I should...Ian got really mad at me last night for saying this."

Then she proceeded to do it anyway. Then another guy there was like "Well, Martin Luther King got assasinated, *insert other assasinated person here* got assasinated..."

First...how dare you bring up MLK like that? Why, because he's black?

Second, what the hell kind of argument is that? Here, let me do it...

"Hey guys! Get this...other people in history have been assasinated before, that must mean Obama will be to!"

I mean what in the name of anything that is holy?! What the hell? Next time I see her, I'm telling her that next time she wants to 'discuss' something like that with me, to NOT do it. Jesus Christ. It makes me want to lose the faith in the world I've tried so hard to keep over the years. Oh yeah, and both nights they were like "Oh, your vote for the president doesn't count!" Shut the hell up. I guess we shouldn't ever try on ANYTHING to do with voting, right? It makes me sick.

Yeah, I just realized I wasn't registered. I swear that I remember registering, but no, I'm not. God damn it. I haven't really cared about an election like this before, in all honesty. Never been as informed as I am with this one either.

Oh well, my own fault for not realizing it was so easy to check and not becoming paranoid about it before now. I guess it's easy to forget to check that kind of thing (for me anyway). Oh well. If I could I'd vote for Obama. I know my one vote won't really matter much, but it's just the principle of it. I really really wanted to go out there tommorow and cast my vote. I'll just have to cheer from the sidelines, so to speak. Damn.

Haven't written in awhile. Things're good, for the most part. My life is ok, I have enough money for myself and Christmas presents for others (there have been years where I thought I was going to bankrupt myself buying gifts :P...wouldn't have stopped me from doing it though), plenty of games to play, and some manga to read. I'm also all caught up on Kamen Rider Kiva episodes, and it's getting amazing in these recent episodes.

I have been really tired lately, but actually I'm refreshed today...I got plenty of sleep, so instead of being sleepy all day I feel pretty good. Also doing well on the fitness crap (been losing more weight lately). I've gotten to hang out with friends lately too.

Bad thing is that Liz's dog (Chimera, or Chi-Chi, pronounced like Keye Keye) died...there wasn't really anything they could have done to heal her and fix her up. Unfortunately, despite having gotten the shots for it, she caught Parvo, which is one of the most nasty things that can happen to a dog. They get really sick, and eventually waste away. Liz did all she could, but there wasn't really much she could do to help. She's pretty torn up about it, so was I too. I know how it feels to lose a pet like that. Besides, I liked Chimera.

She's getting better, but yeah, it takes awhile to recover from that kind of thing though. I'm glad I went over Friday night, I was able to be there for her, hugging her while she was crying and just trying to make her feel a bit better. I also fixed up her computer (their friend Daniel was only trying to help, but he needs to stay away from their computer...he doesn't know as much as he thinks he does).

Anyway, that's all for now.

Boy...I've been going crazy on Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia lately. I can't stop playing it...I finally am up to the point where I can approach the true finale. Going with the tradition Symphony of the Night started, yes, there is a bad ending, and you must go a bit above and beyond to get past it, and get to the final area....and it's a damn cool place (and pretty large actually). One of the best I've had the pleasure of playing through in recent Castlevania history, though I haven't actually gotten to the end yet. There have been plenty of secrets up to even the point I'm at, too (for those that search thoroughly like me there are some special bonuses, one of which is absolutely brutal).

It's a pretty fun game, combat is very refined and fluid, more so than the previous DS Castlevania games. The Glyph System (the source of protagonist Shanoa's powers and weapons) is in some ways a lot like Dawn of Sorrow's system with the enemy souls, but it differs in some ways. For one, all of Shanoa's weapons and magic come from these Glyphys that enemies either drop, or cast themselves (in which case you can suck them up before the spell finishes). These include a lot of varied things...swords, lances...elemental magic of many varieties, and also other stuff (these are the X and Y buttons, one for each arm). This makes combos possible (if you get good, you can get massive amounts of hits with the faster weapons such as the rapier glyphs).

There are also glyphs that give you abilities (activated with the R button). A lot of these give you stat bonuses, but there are others that give you the ability to turn into creatures, summon a familiar, and also add some interesting modes of transportation (such as Magnes, that lets you glomp onto magnetic posts and launch yourself away from it...as seen in the videos of the game).

There are many combos too, where you can cast a Glyph Union, which is usually some sort of a big attack. Depending on what you have equipped, you might get a huge sword shooting out towards your enemey, a gout of flame, or maybe your sword will become a sword of light for a large attack that is brutal against the right enemies. Btw, you need to pay close attention to enemy weaknesses in this one, unlike many of the previous Castlevania titles. I don't recall ever paying that much attention to it except in this one.

Uh, anyway, didn't mean to type this much, but it's a great game. And I must sleep, so good night. :P

The Domino's Pizza website is insane

I'm being lazy today, I just want to stay home, yet I'm craving pizza. I was thinking of ordering from one place I know that has really good pizza, but they are a bit expensive, so I decided against it. I decided to see what Domino's Pizza's prices are, since there is one here.

I went to their website, and you can order online. There is even a freaking a freaking status thing on the order confirmation, telling you at what point your pizza is at (in prep, cooking, being delivered...etc). That's crazy. :P I was not expecting that at all. Oh internet that has such pizza related technology in it.

Apparently Greg started custom-making my order at 5:27 PM. :D Go Greg, go forth and make my pizza, for I hunger. I find this endlessly amusing for some reason. I think I'm just easily amused. ;)

I just made something 'inspired by' this, a Child and Parent rice bowl. Actually, amazingly, it worked out pretty well and is quite tasty. I say inspired by becauase it's no where near anything authentic. :P It's very improvised...only rice I had was spanish rice from yesterday, I did have onions....but no chicken, just turkey. I also didn't have any other fresh veggies, so I opened up a can of them and kind of stir fried it all together, putting an egg on the top at the end. I didn't know there was a special sauce either. I missed that somehow when I was checking this page out half-asleep the other night.

Amazingly, it still turned out tasty though, and is something I wouldn't mind making again some time.
