Jesus a love that covers a multitude of sins
So many I have lost count,
it seems better that way

I wither when I take hope in me
and suffer to see the good
HE is the greatest good
the bringer of hope

The Father burdens with me
gently calming my restless heart
mold me Potter make me new again.

vast as any ocean view
cascading down, down
to meet with the eyes of you

old salty dog,
it makes your blood run cold
yet there is hope for you

hope for all, that you might see
pounding against the rocks
now step to the edge

I walked for a time on the shoals of the shore
and I wandered to wonders of treasure,
I met men who explore those treasures no more
but wisdom there found beyond measure

I looked at one man who was blind in the eyes
and I asked him to tell me his tale
he told me his story then I said my good byes
I was sorrowful, time to set sail

I longed for adventure and to conquer the sea
to make memories to tell a young lad
my hopes and my dreams have evaded you see
and have spent my heart pinning so sad

Now I wander the shores sewing stories of woe
a stern warning of frivolous schemes
of a day when my spirit to the depths it did go
navigating the seafloor it seems

I have seen many a maiden and many a wife
make a man regret his life choices
to make room for her, far from toil and strife
putting silence to adventurous voices

I must go down to the sea again as I sit by her dying bed side
where be fresh ocean spray
I'm leaving today
To tell stories I bid you good-bye

“I Tremble on the Edge of a Maybe”

O God of beginnings, as your Spirit moved over the face of the deep on the first day of creation,

move with me now in my time of beginnings,

when the air is rain-washed, the bloom is on the bush, and the world seems fresh and full of possibilities, and I feel ready and full.

I tremble on the edge of a maybe, a first time, a new thing, a tentative start,

and the wonder of it lays its finger on my lips.

In silence, Lord, I share now my eagerness, and my uneasiness about this something different I would be or do;

and I listen for your leading to help me separate the light from the darkness in the change I seek to shape and which is shaping me. Amen.
