| What Can't You Find in NYC? Last Thursday I had lunch at this Mongolian Hot Pot Place I saw a year ago in San Diego. It was crowded with Asians. One of the waitresses spoke to me in Chinese before I said I didn't speak Chinese. I had the lunch special. I didn't care for the flavors of the soup. I had the half regular, half spicy split bowl with beef. The regular soup broth was better than the spicy broth. I remember reading that the Chinese consider food medicine. Now I know why, some of their food tastes exactly like medicine. There were . . . medicine-tasting nuts in the soup. It could have been menthol flavor. The whole time I was eating it, I was wishing "turn into pho." Drilling with the Naval Reserves this weekend was the same old, same old. Not much has changed in the year I've been away, except some in the leadership is trying to whip the unit into shape to become more productive and responsive. We'll see how the new leadership pans out. I went with two friends to Donovan's Steak House on Saturday. I think Ruth Chris's is better. I ordered the Rib Eye because I can't recall ever ordering it. The Rib Eye was okay. I'll go with other cuts next time. The t-bone I ordered at Ruth Chris's was very good. Today, I'm going to mail one of my best friends in New York a bottle of Tapatio Hot Sauce. He said he can't find it in Manhattan, New York. Can't find a particular hot sauce in New York? Come on, New York, step it up! | | |
| Drill Drill Drill I'm in San Diego drilling with the Naval Reserves this weekend. I expect to do a lot of menial work this weekend. I've brought down three different versions of Navy uniforms and I'll probably have to wear all three. | | |
| "You can't handle the truth!" Pops erupted volcanically for days. He raged like a Type I hurricane. I think steady dosages of blissful ignorance is best for him. He's calmed down recently. Only time will tell how spun up he'll be tomorrow morning. | | |
| Enjoy Veterans Day This day was made possible by those who served in the military. Bravo Zulu (great job) to ebai and all the other Veterans out there. I appreciate all the time, blood, sweat, tears, and sacrifices. | | |
| A Good Corean Son I put my drunken dad in bed with good spirits. It's 08:58 PM now, Pacific Standard Time (perhaps the best sports viewing time). *Pat myself on the back* I shared/unloaded personal stuff to my pops and he was receptive. Who knows if he'll remember well tomorrow, I made all the right steps. | | |
