| | It was Fri morning. They called. For the 1st time in my life, I got it. I was relieved yet estatic. Yet the future for getting it looks saddening. I do not know. Big portion of my heart want to remain in KL but still to get the job in Penang is a very great opportunity. While pondering another option, this friend called.
This fren known as " 1+ " ( mandarin) called and said, "Hey, tomorrow you know right? We are going to Malacca." Blur. The natural reply was "Oh, tomorrow you all are going to Malacca." Amusingly, the other side said, "No ah, you also come with us la." While I was wtf-ing, 1+ talked about how an international tournament that is supposed to be held in Malacca will be combining with another tournament held in Malacca and become only one tournament so if we go to this tournament we could actually win both honours if we joined the tournament.
Wait wait wait, did he just say "if we go there, we win two honours" ?
Wah lao, tournament oso belum confirm join already talk about wining the tournament.
Ridiculously, after a long night at One Utama, watching an IQ-dropping yet entertaining movie featuring TheRock in "GetSmart", got stopped over at a police roadblock (must be thanks to Peh who is damn toh suey), a talkative session at Kayu, I arrived home at home on 3am just to find myself getting ready to go to Malacca at 6am in an blink of an eye. My uncle was staring at me in disbelief when he saw the time and myself walking out the room. Ironically, I found out that my mom was actually already awake that time and she was studying for her exam. WtH, a Maths teacher nearing retirement studying for an exam. Suddenly I feel like I'm the old one here.
After fetching Steven's brother Wern from Cyberjaya, the six of us set off to Malacca. Felt I have grown younger a few years while in the car. Ma derr. I am actually 3 or 4 yrs older than all of them. Quite weird actually. Yet they are very chatty and indeed very good in bullshitting : totally my type of people to be with. To go to a tournament held in Malacca, all we need is to call up all the team members a day before, and wah la we are all zooming to the historical city: without training while nonstop yapping about how we are going to use the prize money along the way.
1+ described our trip as if ChunYeong(who was driving) is like our father. Remember how your essays about a trip in your primary school days would sound like? Amazingly all of us could actually compose different parts of the epilogue of the essay and each of our versions are compatible with each other. See! This is how the education system in our nation has done to us. Brainwashing every kid no matter which state and any age to write the nearly stereotypic style of esssay writing: using the same terms and same familiar introduction.
So it sounded like this,
"One day, my father suddenly have an urge(yes, in chinese essay, here, "xin xue lai cao", the famous "cheng yu" would confirmed be used. A usage of "cheng yu" is like using peribahasa in BM : it makes the passage looks impressive ^_^) to bring us whole family to go to a trip. Thus, all of us happily ( ahh, "xing gao cai lie" ) went on this journey.
Along the way ( "yi lu shang"), the morning's weather is clear and the wind is calm ( yesssssss...remember this? "FENG HE RI LI"). All of us in the car are chatting happily. ( "tan tian suo di" , "you suo you xiao") ..."
and the essay will go on.....
If you dunno what I mean, just go to a small kid's exercise book, open their chinese essay, compare it with the above. You'll be amazed really. The style, the terms, the message conveyed will be identical.
So all of us reached Malacca at 9am, ate dim sum and went to the cafe just to found out that there are many strong teams participating in this tournament. The best thing was, the organizer did not reach until 10.30am which is 1 hour later than the time they asked us to gather, and the registration did not complete until 11.30am.
When the brackets are out, we anxiously went and check out who are our opponents. Just to realize,
"Eh, our team name not here de?"
Six pairs of eyes read the match schedule. Yea wor. WHere's our team's name? We went and asked the marshall and found out.
ZHAAAAAAAA DOUUUUUUUUUUUUU Team who registered din show up. WALKOVER 1st round.
"Please come back again at about 2.30pm" . Wtf. 11am to 2.30pm is like...eternity woi.. Still we have nothing to complain, so we went to the used to be Kotamas. After turning and turning and turning, we parked our car and entered the cinema. In front of the cinema was 4 benches and 1+ straightaway suggested that we take up the 4 benches and sleep until 2.30pm lo. Nah, our father ChunYeong have a better idea : We here liao ma, watch movie lo. Think think, ok ma, those who tired, sleep in cinema only la. So, out of the list of movies, we made our choice and stepped into the theatre.
From the Zong's book of record, introducing
=================>>>>> "The Happening"
<<<<<<===========
It was probably the worst choice of our life. Usually a suck movie can make you just fall asleep.
This movie has all the superb sucky elements that after you watch it, YOU CAN'T SLEEP. YESSSSSSSS IT IS THAT SUCK!
"The Happening" also entered a new record into Zong's book of record : The 1st movie that make Zong stepped out of the cinema withuot finish watching the movie.
Once out of the cinema, all six of us let out a breather. It seems like sleeping at the bench outside the cinema is a better idea after all.
After eating lunch at McD, we headed back to the cafe and found out that our oppoenents for the next game is still playing their game.
Errr..Okay...so we watched and analysed how our opponent will play.
Awesomeness never ceased to wonder in this tournament. After 10 minutes, we suddenly hear a tick sound from the power box and the whole cafe black out. FuhYo, for such a prestigous tournament, this is superb shit man! All the ongoing matches could be reloaded actually, but , the problem is, the usual internet cafe computers will not store any of its data after it is restarted, means....
all the matches that were ongoing have to be restarted, and replayed...
means.....
"Please come back around 6.30pm lo. If your game can start earlier, we will call you ok?"
WAH LAO EH.
Six of us are like a guy only in his underpants stranded in the middle of a wedding. Where can we go woi? We come here for a tournament and cannot even touch the mouse and keyboard a.
Luckily my fren's have frens that are in Malacca.I can't help but feeling old and sad .Baru a month back, I could've have a list of friends I could call upon if there's situation like this, places and houses to crash in if I'm in Malacca. Now, who can I call? Sigh. The emptiness of facing graduation.
So we finally had our 1st major team talk at 5pm. YES. The game at 6.30pm and now only we start discussing what each player is going to do. When we left the house, I think its mutual understanding that the major team talk is as if it never occured as we went into the cafe, just to have the organisers telling us that our game is postponed to the last match of the day which will be 8pm.
One game only. Postponed so many times. Amazing. But in Malacca liao wo, takkan dun wait? So we went to MMU Corner. Nostalgic place. Expanded to more shoplots and more stalls. Wanted to eat the duck mee but apparently she stopped selling. The fried kuey teow robocop hawker is still there but he doesnt seem to recognize me. Crap. Plus, there are several pleasant looking uh-hmm at MMU corner. Shit. I can hear the cursing of my batch of male engineering students echoeing from all over Cyberjaya.
After dinner, we returned and waited, and waited until finally its our turn and this would be the time you appreciate your pc you have at home and the ones provided in the Project labs in MMU. Really spoiled the mood.
We finally had our game at 9pm.
And lost.
We head home to KL, discussing vividly how we lost the game and then horror struck Wern. And later horror struck all six of us when the road sign "Selamat datang to Sempadan Johor" was passed. Haha. Terus make a u-turn at Segamat and head back the correct direction.
Later, we sort of missed a turning into KESAS highway. Thus we turned a turning into Bangi/Dengkil and we had the horror of our lives when we drove on "jalan yang berliku-liku tanpa lampu jalanan" without knowing where we will be ending up at. Fortunately after trusting the road sign again and again, we finally reached Dengkil and later Cyberjaya.
Now to reward myself, Holland vs Russia! What a dramatic Euro 2008 so far :P
p.s. I think I would sleep at half time. After all havn't slept in more than 24 hrs i think. >_<
