already having a copy of star wars: woot

going to finally buy everything i need this weekend.
also need to get some  Brasso scott to fix my ipod, because i'm going back to using my it, and the back is kind of scratched:

just a little. "that'll buff right out."

oh yeah, emily came to kidnap me yesterday with amy and annie (who i don't know). anyways, they came at like 4:30, pulled me out (without shoes and left the door open, lol), and drove around for a little. couldn't hang out that long or do anything cool, since i didn't have shoes and had to be home by 5. still fun.

that orchestra music today nearly put me to sleep (well, it would have if mrs griff hadn't told us not to beforehand).

ehh, lame day.
techies were supposed to let us know in homeroom if we made it in next year or not, but they didn't. hopefully scott, mateen (haha), and i all get in.
gym was cool, played some tennis outside with...scott and mateen (and bj). some kid went into the woods and broke a huge limb off a tree and carried it over. haha. you can do anything in this class. mrs auggie totally digs my shoes and old school gym shirt (i've been wearing my sister's blue one from 8 years ago).
scott and i were going to go to alex's tonight, but hes busy. at least theres saturday night, RFL meeting sunday, and star wars on friday to look forward to.
oh, my brother is home from college for a few days before he goes on vacation to greece. thats cool.
i need to buy stuff. but i have like no money. well, i do, i just don't want to spend it, because then i won't have any money. i need to:
*renew spectracide.us ($16) because even though i don't want to use it anymore, i don't want the company that should have it to have it, and need to catch any emails that might still come
*pay for 5 months worth of webhosting bills for spectracide.us ($25, woops, haha)
*freaking cancel expensive hosting for spectracide.us and switch it to a free place [less features, duh, but i'm not doing anything with it, i just wanna put it in limbo]
*buy (cheap) webhosting for ryanpohlner.us ($20/year, hell yeah)
*buy star wars tickets on fandango ($10, dad will probably pay for that)
*buy clothes (any left over money)

i was bored, so i designed a layout for the new site. woooot.

cliffnotes: today was boring, i'm a geek, and i want money.
sorry there is nothing cool about this post.

edit(6:23pm): good god, amy made this post, not me.
edit(days later): shrinking font, post is way too long.

im home with jungle fever!

i like the dots and pink elephants jumping around my room...FOUNTAIN IS TALKING TO ME! HE WANTS A PINEAPPLE! HIS WISH IS MY COMMAND!!!

lets talk about politics...shall we?

Of the many presidents who could be mindlessly passed off as heroes, there are a few truly heroic presidents. Among them, Abraham Lincoln stands tall. In 1861, when Lincoln was elected to office, the situations of the time called for a hero, and Lincoln stepped up.

All throughout his childhood, Lincoln had to struggle to make a living and learn as well. His mother died when he was only ten years old. He lived as a farmer, working largely what would be considered “minimum wage” jobs today. All this while Lincoln struggled to gain knowledge, especially of law. He was always determined to accomplish his goals, and was willing to work as much as it might take to do so.

After gaining presidency, Lincoln was faced with a dilemma. The secession of the South, though never officially realized by Lincoln, called for some sort of action. Throughout the Civil War, and even after, Lincoln was very kind and forgiving to southerners. He kept in mind the greater good and strived for the reunion of the nation, rather than becoming angry toward the South. As he stated in a speech at the Gettysburg military cemetery, Lincoln wanted a “government of the people, by the people, for the people, (that) shall not perish from the earth.” After the Civil War, Lincoln urged the South to put away their weapons, and rejoin the Union.

One of Abraham Lincoln’s truly noble and well-known actions was the issuing of the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. This would proclaim all the slaves in the United States free from slavery. Though this meant little to the South at the time, it means everything today.

Any American resident, and hopefully anyone in the world can appreciate Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. Without it, our country wouldn’t demonstrate the same sense of freedom and equality it currently does. All people of minorities especially would regard Lincoln’s proclamation heroic. It freed them from possibly being born into slavery, and was the first national-scale step towards racial equality.

I personally consider this act heroic. For one, I am not a racist, nor do I support or participate in racial discrimination. In addition, we would live in a completely different world than we live in now if slavery were still allowed. Lincoln committed much of his time into abolishing slavery, earning a great deal of respect from many.

Abraham Lincoln did many other things which worked to define him as a hero. Not only did he go from a poor, hard-working child to president, but he did so with minimal assistance. He learned law and debate on his own, and had a great mind in both subjects. Prior to his election to presidency, he participated in a series of debates with Stephen Douglas, a well-known politician. While Lincoln was an unknown underdog, his ability to debate was apparent. He upstaged Douglas on various occasions, but more importantly established a name for himself. Lincoln is the definitive “self-made man.”

i like having him as president...hes very good

time for my daily pole-vaulting lesson! see you!

hellooooooo (seinfeld, anyone? anyone?).
last last friday - all i can remember of school is gym. keech gave some speech about how we were slacking, especially the athletes. i looked at mateen and said "phew, thought he was talking about us for a minute." haha, and then what do we do, but him, scott, and i sit out and read a newspaper we found. you had to be there.
<geek>after school i saw The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which was good. i don't think anybody will like it that hasn't read the book though. too many inside jokes (and at least 2 "easter eggs"), too much condensed plot (which diverted from the book after 5 minutes), and not enough explaination. hell, even i got confused about the towels. in the book its perfectly clear they're needed for teleporting, but in the movie they are this godly magical thing that scares aliens away and solves all problems. wtf. the book wasnt even that funny, it was just cool. and the movie was cool too, especially the CG on the Magrathea scene. oh, and whoever played Zaphod was perfect. coolest character ever.</geek>
last last saturday - wake up at an early 12:30pm to get ready for spring formal. um, and my dad goes to a doctor appointment for his eye that was bothering him. it turns out he has to have eye surgery. so he leaves at 4 to have that done. yeah, bad timing. anyways, he gets my uncle to come over to take me to amy's house at 5 and to take pictures. that all went well. amy and i went to kay's for dinner and pictures. theresa, scott, and other people were there. then, um, we went to the dance? crazy. then we all went back to kay's. she has really comfortable couches. i was able to stay awhile but eventually got a ride home from amy's brother. eventually i'll post pics.
last sunday - dad was home from his surgery for a "detached retina". he had to lay on his side for a week. no work, no driving. i got my vacuumin' and laundryin' on.
mon/tues/wed - went to school despite being sick. only big thing i can remember is doing my career report powerpoint for english in homeroom, then making up the speech in class, and getting a 100.
thursday - i thought it was pretty stupid when guys bragged about what girl they "made babies" with doing that biology genetics lab, but now im going to. amanda chose me. haha out of a possible 0 others though. my choices for egg were a bit wider, i don't think i got amanda's. sorry. after school i went to the dentist. my dad must've been talking to the secretaries, because when i got out they started talking about me driving home. then one is like, pretty soon you're gonna be taller than your dad. the other one said i have pretty eyes. haha, weird, but sweet. came home and studied for the AP Euro exam.
friday - AP Euro Exam. skipped 12 multiple choice. DBQ was awesome. they give you all the info you need, its just a matter of being good at english/writing. short answer questions were kind of iffy. i chose 4 and 7. 4 was about martin luther compared to henry the somethingith. i went pretty skimpy, and probably said some incorrect things. 7 was about europe being the #1 world trade...place. i made stuff up, but it made sense. i'm feeling a 3 on the exam. who cares. apparently only 5's get college credit, so i really don't give a crap, im just interested in the experience. i got a ride home from kevin rohe's dad since my dad was at the doctor for his 1 week check up. he was doing fine, so he doesn't have to lay down anymore, and his vision is fine. didn't do anything afterschool. i fell asleep around 10, lights and computer on, thinking it was going to be a nap.
saturday - wake up at 6am and wonder why my lights and computer are on. decide it probably isn't important and go back to sleep. wake up, cut the grass. downloaded a bunch of music, organized collection, updated playlist. ooo, this reminds me of why melanie weyant is cool: she knows like every single band. i can randomly IM her some band i just found out about, and get something other than "what" back. case in point:
[16:42] p0hlner1: anberlin!
[16:43] Melanie: YESSSSSS
--
[23:37] p0hlner1: anberlin!
[23:37] Scott: eh?

anyways, didn't do anything again that night. went to barnes & noble to blow a giftcard i still had from christmas. got The Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers. maybe now i can make theresa's face look normal before i post SF pictures. when i got back, i played some isketch with scott.
today - sisters came over. chilled out. watched National Treasure.

weekend kinda sucked. hopefully this weekend we'll be doing things friday/saturday night, and have a RFL meeting. need to plan and buy Star Wars tickets, because staring at fandango's purchase page sucks.

you read all that boring crap? you win a new picture of my fish.
