It was a good trip, I was able to get a lot accomplished in just a couple days.

Last weekend, Kalyn and I hit the road once again, and drove out to Indy for the weekend for Nate Crouch's wedding.

We had a good time there. Met up with some old Alert buddies... Josh Lavin, Joel Benz, Joel Dueck Erick Van Til, Ryan Thomas, Frank Turner... and we had a fun time catching up.

On the way back home, we stopped in St Louis to play tourist for awhile - we've never actually stopped in the city since we moved out here, so we wanted to see what there was to see and do there. We ended up going up in the Arch, which was an experience!

This next weekend we're hitting the road once again to visit my folks in Jersey for Thanksgiving. We're planning on heading out Saturday afternoon or early Sunday morning, and we're carpooling with Joe and Christine Fetters... driving straight through. The trip should be a blast!

In between travels and vacations, the United Media business continues to flourish with God's blessing and lots of hard work. Next year is looking like it will be a banner year, we have set some pretty high goals, and at this point they seem to be very attainable.

Earlier this week I got a new iPhone for the business, and absolutely love it. It's awesome having just about everything I need right at my fingertips. It is definitely exceeding the already high expectations that I had for it.

That's about it. We are planning a Holiday party on Sat, Dec 1st, so if any of y'all are in the area, or otherwise decide you'd like to come and hang out with the cool people, let us know

Wednesday, August 01, 2007

Friday evening we headed into Nashville with the Tallents and Jessi Haskin to check out the Opryland Hotel. That was really neat. While in the parking lot we watched a tour bus turn a corner and clip a shiny black car with a large "Intimidator" decal on it. This car proceeded to throw it in reverse and back into the car behind them. Pretty funny to watch... you probly had to be there

We made it home from our road trip Saturday afternoon. We took our time unpacking and settling back in. Sunday after church we went to see Shrek the Third again a second time. That movie is hilarious - full of great quotes! Since then we've been getting back in the grove with work and business. Kalyn's trying to get over a nasty head cold she must've picked up on the trip.
On the road again...

...so good to be on the road again!

My dear wife and I decided to both take a week off from work and just hit the road and go SOMEwhere :) This was our first real vacation since we've been married where we didn't have to BE somewhere or DO something.

We've been having a blast, just relaxing and seeing sites. We left this past Saturday, and so far our travels have taken us to Nashville, TN, Charlotte, NC, Rock Hill, SC, Asheville NC, the Smoky Mountains National Park, Pigeon Forge, TN, and now central Tennessee

Friday, June 01, 2007

The month of May is just about behind us, and what a month it's been! Two weeks ago, Phillip Leach was so kind to let Kalyn and I catch a ride from Missouri to Texas and home again aboard his private jet We arrived in San Marcos on Thursday afternoon.

We managed to pack quite a bit into our three day visit... shopping at the outlet mall, horseback riding, working with Papa Curry and the kids on their project in Austin, spending time with Kalyn's family, boating and jet-skiing on the lake with the Dudleys (I didn't quite manage to get the hang of water-skiiing), a cook-out with family and friends Sat evening and then our return flight home to Missouri on Sunday afternoon.

Then last weekend, Stan Krystal and Kaila were here for a visit. Friday I played my first ever round of golf with Stan and Matt, and enjoyed it much more than I expected. On Saturday Kalyn's grandparents arrived for a visit, and Saturday afternoon we threw Joe and Christine a baby shower at our house with her family in town from Jersey.

Sunday we went to lunch at Lamberts Cafe - home of the throwed rolls - with the family, then visited some shops in Branson before heading back to our place to hit the pool and chill for the afternoon.

On Monday Stan and Krystal hit the road to travel back to Texas and we spent the day relaxing and chilling at the pool

If any of y'all find yourselves anywhere near southwest Missouri this summer, be sure to give us a shout and stop by for a visit! Kalyn and I love to have company... c'mon out!
What a weekend!

Friday evening we had a cookout here with burgers and hot dogs. Matt and Trina came over for supper. Joe Fetters and Chris Christenson were doing the bachelor thing for the weekend, so we invited them out here to spend the night with us. Later in the evening Spencer arrived from Texas to spend the weekend with us.

Saturday morning we made breakfast so Kalyn could eat before she headed off to work. Then we guys unloaded Spencer's new four wheeler and took that out and about for awhile. We then headed off to the Christenson's place where we shot clays for awhile. From there we headed over up to a wedding reception dealy-wob for a friend of Spencers'. There I saw some old familiar faces from ALERT days gone by.

Sunday afternoon after church, we hit the river with a raft Spencer brought with him. We had quite a good time floating the river for several miles. The water temperature was perfect!

About halfway done the river, we ran into a stranded couple (rather drunk would be putting it mildly) who had managed to not only overturn their canoe, but wrap it around a tree blocking the majority of the river and flipping everyone that tried to make it by. After some time we managed to get a line on the submerged canoe and pull it loose from the immense water pressure it was under. That definitely made the experience more interesting for sure.

After we got the the raft out of the water and packed away, we headed for home, watched a movie and hit the sack.

Monday we headed out back to clean up the trees that were destroyed by the ice storm this past winter. With the help of Spencer and his four wheeler we managed to pull over, cut up, and generally clean up the back tree line quite nicely. It was almost too much fun using the four wheeler to drag the debris off to the burn pile Many thanks to Spencer for helping us out with that. By the time we were done we were all pretty exhausted. Around 3 o'clock Spencer hit the road to head back to Texas, and I headed in to work. And there you have the culmination of an awesome weekend!

And now it's time for me to head to bed. I managed to fatefully crash one of the servers I was working on tonight. Okay, so it technically wasn't my fault. The machine had been running in crisis mode since January (had a bad physical drive in it's RAID 1 O/S array, for you techies) except, nobody knew it until I went and rebooted the machine tonight. And yes, this did have to be one of our larger banks. Joy!
Monday, April 30, 2007

Many thanks for the birthday wishes Thank you, thank you very much...

I had a splendiferous birthday. Spent the day with my lovely wifey doing odds and ends around the house, doing some yard work, and planting a rose bush Kalyn got for her birthday. In the evening we got pizza and hung out while I did some work from home.

This weekend was loads of fun, if only it didn't have to be over so quickly. Saturday Kalyn and I headed into Springfield. Joe Fetters and I went biking on the Frisco Highline trail while our wives visited the mall and sundry other shopping locations. The biking was quite enjoyable. The weather was absolutely perfect. We covered about 16 miles of trail - not too bad considering I haven't done much riding at all in about 3 years. Thanks Joe & Christine for an awesome weekend hanging out with y'all.

Sunday afternoon Kalyn and I went and picked up a new gas grill for our back deck - thanks Matt & Trina and the Currys We'll definitely have many summer evening cookouts with the new barbie. We've also been having quite the fun playing Halo 2 with the Xbox Live subscription - thanks Stan & Krystal and Colie & Brenda for the Xbox gear I have a long way to go before I become anywhere near competitive, but I'm having fun!

My 'day job' has had some interesting twists and turns in the last several weeks. Our release department finished upgrading customers to the current version of software, and the development group won't have a new version ready for release for several months. So, they've moved me over to another group doing very similar work moving customers to new servers when they run out of storage space. On top of that, we seem to be playing musical supervisors. I'm told that will be solved tomorrow, and from what I hear, it should be an ideal scenario for me.

Today is our 2nd anniversary... I've definitely been blessed with the absolutely best wife ever!

So there you have an update from the Zman. If anyone's interested in my new Xbox Live gamertag, drop me a line, and I'll ponder whether I want to allow you to beat up and kill me online

25 today!!!!!!

ahghghghghgh taken over by Kalyn for the day!!!!!!

So hey y'all it's Tim's 25th b-day today....soo, leave him kudos or whatever ......

Thanks bunches!!!

Tuesday, March 20, 2007

The last several weeks have been very full and fun. On Wednesday, Feb 28th we officially closed on our new house, and began the process of moving in. Wed - Fri of that week we did some painting and decorating and began moving all of our stuff from the duplex.

Friday afternoon and evening we took a break from our move and helped Joe and Christine move into their apartment. They rented a really nice two bedroom apartment just outside Springfield.

On Saturday, we resumed our move, with the help of Matt and Trina and Chris Christenson. We had saved the bulk of the larger furniture for Saturday. Fortunately, many hands made (fairly) light work, and we had everything moved out of the duplex, and the carpets cleaned by mid afternoon. We had officially moved out of the duplex and into the new house.

Saturday evening, we set up the living room, got the surround sound installed and setup. We now have ceiling mounted rear satellite speakers and stands for the front speakers, which makes the living room into an incredible theater! It's really awesome sounding

The last couple of weeks have been spent on various projects around the house. We're still waiting for the builder to finish grading and seeding our lawn. The back yard was far too wet to attempt the lawn before the closing, so they decided to wait and finish that up after it had a chance for the mud to dry out.

We're still waiting on the phone company to get their act together and get our DSL service setup at the new place. It seems we happen to be 400ft. over the typical limit for DSL service, but from everything I can tell from the initial loop tests we have a very clean phone line, which should support the service no problem. Now we're just waiting on the engineers to run some more tests and come to the same conclusions. All that to say, we will get to posting some new pics on our website once we have internet at home again

Anyway, Kalyn and I are really loving the new place. It's absolutely perfect. God is so good to us. A great big thank you to everyone who helped us out with our move... it was much appreciated!

Wednesday, February 21, 2007

The weather outside is far from frightful.... it's quite wonderful, actually. This week we finally experienced a break in the weather - temps in the 60's and sunshine

Life's been plenty busy... work is going well... the business has been taking off like a rocket since the New Year.

Last weekend we had Joe and Christine Fetters spend the weekend out our place. That was lots of fun Good times, for sure.

Our new house is almost completed. They're supposed to be finishing it up over the weekend, and our closing is scheduled for this coming Wed, assuming everything falls into place. God has been good, the process has gone quite smoothly. The biggest question was whether the builders would get enough days above freezing to hang the rock on the front of the house, and pour the driveway, etc. If you want to see pics of the construction progress, check out the photos on our website: www.timandkalyn.us.
